Grand Priory of the Scottish Reformed & Rectified Rite of the USA

By that reasoning, I could go out tomorrow and charter the "Scottish Rite Motorcycle Club" and expect automatic recognition.

Grand Priory of the Scottish Reformed & Rectified Rite of the USA

Well, let's examine that. Bodies are entered on the list by vote of the Grand Lodge, not by fiat of the Grand Master (or Past Grand Masters). I'm looking right now at a bound copy of the laws of the GLoT, dated 1932, which includes "Scottish Rite Bodies". If the Grand Priory of America was...

Grand Priory of the Scottish Reformed & Rectified Rite of the USA

It's worth pointing out that the Great Priory of America is not on the list of masonic bodies approved by the Grand Lodge of Texas. It is therefore a breach of masonic discipline for a Texas Mason to belong to it.

    Regularity of Degree Teams

So The Masonic Society predicates its "full membership" on being a mason, and they issue membership cards and patents. Sounds like they qualify to me.

    Regularity of Degree Teams

I gather by "sons of hiram" you mean the organization within Alzafar Shrine. Since the Shrine is recognized, their sub-organizations are too. As for the "Masonic Society," they are not on the list, and I gather you have to be a mason to join, so I can't see any way it's really kosher to belong...

    Are black people allowed?

I imagine (if he's a good man) he'd get into mine.

    Are black people allowed?

There is no rule about the race of the petitioner, but the members of the lodge vote on each petition. All it takes is three men voting their prejudices to keep a good man out. It isn't a perfect system.

    What not to write?

You shouldn't write the fact that there are things we shouldn't write. Oops.

    Visitation

According to the report of our Fraternal Relations Committee, there was a meeting scheduled between them and the PH leadership to talk about it, but the PH brethren cancelled it.

Across The Atlantic, Masonic History In The Making

I think you just made my point.

Across The Atlantic, Masonic History In The Making

I would welcome contradiction here, but it's my understanding that the two grand lodges of Oklahoma, like those in Texas, have agreed not to allow each others members to transfer. So, why shouldn't it be an option to join the MWPHGL of Texas?

Across The Atlantic, Masonic History In The Making

...and if the men were members of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge?

Across The Atlantic, Masonic History In The Making

If twenty masons in Oklahoma decided they didn't like their grand lodge, and asked the MWPHGLoT for a charter, how would that fare?

    How important is recognition?

As for unity...the community of mainstream grand lodges is united because they not only all have the same pedigree, but because they all agree on what they consider fundamentals. Other grand lodges, being sovereign, may not care to buy into our system of landmarks...some want to admit women...

    How important is recognition?

You can tell who is recognized by mainstream freemasonry by looking in the "List of Lodges Masonic" published by Pantograph. Simple as that.

Across The Atlantic, Masonic History In The Making

I'm sure you know this, since you obviously enjoy researching these matters, but this seems a bit similar to the business that got the Grand Lodge "Valle de Mexico" de-recognized a few years ago. Several of the grand lodges of the various states of Mexico raised a fuss because GLVdM was setting...

Across The Atlantic, Masonic History In The Making

I would, however like to hear somebody explain what the problem was with the Grand Lodge of the Cote d'Ivoire that caused these masons to split off and seek a charter from the MWPHGLoT.

Across The Atlantic, Masonic History In The Making

That argument is fine, if you want to be recognized by Paul Bessel. If you want to be considered regular by the Grand Lodge of Texas, though, you don't set up lodges in the territory of a Grand Lodge with which the Grand Lodge of Texas is in amity. It's in our constitution. Simple to...

    How important is recognition?

sooo...recognition vs. regularity? Why is regularity important? The PHA lodges don't consider the "National Compact Prince Hall Origin" lodges regular, but the PHO lodges certainly consider themselves regular. The only difference is that PHA doesn't "recognize" PHO. EVERYONE considers...

    How important is recognition?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you just said.
