    Bro. Mac, I do think it's important to distinguish between social fraternities and service. There are a number of service fraternities that function like Kiwanis, Lions, etc, but unfortunately get a hard rap because of the Greek letter attachment.

    Red lodges are Scottish Rite in affiliation. The basic three degrees that the vast majority of American Masons know in their blue lodge are the 'York Rite' version of the degrees.
