To me, one of the beauties of Masonry is that there is a way for everyone to contribute to the Lodge- from sitting in the East to keeping the bathrooms clean & the lawn mowed. Each is, in its own way, essential to the operation of the Lodge. Sometimes we have to explain to a Brother who aspires to the East that he just doesn't have the ability to hold that position but that doesn't make him any less of a Mason or less important to the success of the Lodge. There are many laudable paths towards self improvement. Going through a sequence that emulates a compressed career from go-fer to CEO of a small company is one laudable path towards self improvement.
