    1717-2017

Agreed. I was attempting to circumvent the ubiquitous "Masonry began in 1717" comments.

    self expulsion in Arkansas

That's how I've seen it done in NM and CA, as well. In fact, one was read this month, requested by our JW, who was sitting in the South at the time. It was a sad moment, actually.

Is there any PHA Lodges in Corpus Christi? ??

According to the MWPHGLTX website there are two.

    1717-2017

Define "our." The only thing that happened in 1717 is that the "grand lodge" system was created.

    Texas Commanderies...a modest proposal

If you can't learn the ritual, then you won't be performing the ritual. In some jurisdictions you aren't allowed to be chosen for a chair unless you prove yourself.

"What is the purpose of God in Freemasonry?"

I specifically used Deity in an attempt to be all-inclusive. My "god" is no more important than any other Brother's "god."

    What do masons do?

Freemasonry gives individuals the tools by which to improve themselves.

Which appendant bodies do you belong to?

Difficult for someone else to say, plus I'm not sure what bodies exist in the Netherlands. I'm fairly certain you have access to the Royal Arch and would highly recommend it. It truly brings the degrees full-circle.

    Criminal Background Check Resources

Several decades ago you would have called a petitioners references, gone to his home, spoken to his friends and co-workers. That's police investigation level snooping. I have done a simple search on a single website and discovered patterns of dangerous recklessness, spousal abuse, and criminal...

    Criminal Background Check Resources

It may not be your choice... NM requires a background check and the petitioner knowingly pays the fees. I've personally discovered reasons to object (as part of an Investigation Committee) to a petitioner, just from looking at local court records.

University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital

Not sure how it could be a "bad" thing...

Which appendant bodies do you belong to?

It's a research society. I enjoy the Journal, and while the forum is often quiet, there are a lot of good papers in the archives.

Which appendant bodies do you belong to?

Royal Arch Chapter, Cryptic Council, Knights Templar Commandery, R+C College, Masonic Society.

    Choosing Your Mark

Mine's very simple, horizontals, right-angles, and perpendiculars. I had also used it as an identifier for years before I became a Mason.

    Need a Direction!

You must first petition a Craft (or "blue") Lodge to become a Freemason. After that you may petition Scottish Rite, or a host of other organisations. Go to some of the various lodges, meet the members, get a feel for their "flavour," then you can make an informed decision.

Levelhead, you've made your opinion quite clear already. Please reign your passions in and move on.

    Choosing Your Mark

You make your own, as it should be unique.

    New Mexico

No, I moved to Cali last year. I'm still a member of both SF lodges, though. Tell them Brother JC says hi next time you're there.
