I am SD at our lodge and since officer installations we have done 1 Master, 3 FC's, and 8 EA. I have got lots of exercise, both physical and mental LOL
Greetings brother. Many, many years ago I lived in the Woodlands. In fact, I owned the 4th house built out there. My last trip down I saw that my house had been torn down (or I couldnt remember where it was) and a large suburb had been built in its place.
Although I agree with most of what you have said here, I am in "the public" all of the time and most of the time I am wearing either my Masons vest or my Fellowship Riders vest. Both of which are leather and neither support an area. We (as in those that wear either vests that I ride with) show...
The thing is, I rode a motorcyle long before I became a Mason. Never joined a M/C as I always believed that I did not have to belong to be able to ride.
I joined masonry because it is supposed to make good men better and I believe in most cases do. However, there are those that think the better...
So I was accepted in my lodge while I rode a motorcycle but now I am no konger accepted for the same reason. I am no different now than I was then but I guess I am fortunate that I did not petition a lodge that some of you belong to. Seems you think you are somewhat better than the rest of us...
Now there are those that want to regulate what I wear or ride.
I wear a black leather vest with the square and compass on the back with Mason above and AF & AM below. Again, I do not belong to any orginization other than my ble lodge and the Scottish Rite. These vests are worn only by Master...
You would have to boot most of our lodge including a couple of 60 year members.
I have tattoos, several in fact. Most are christian in nature, some are masonic symbols, and some are patriotic.
In some ways I have to agree with Bro_Vick.
I do not believe that motorcycle enthusiasts are a passing trend. I have been riding (mostly with the same group of people) for 45 years. Mocked at times, yes. Laughed at, only by those within our group. Now I agree that there are those that are what...
As stated above, enjoy the journey. I am glad you decided to slow down a bit. I would recommend just staying in your Blue Lodge for a least a year and learn what you can there prior to going SR. I waited 2 years before I made that journey and very glad I did. I learned so much more through my...
Do I boast of them, no. Am I proud of them, yes.
When asked who influenced me the most to become a Mason, it was my grandfather way back when I was a youngster. He would always tell me to square my actions. I did not even know he was a Mason until after he had passed. I was given his ring and...
I agree that you should visit lodges of both. A very good GLoT would be Mike H. Thomas in Dallas. They have members of all colors and get along very well together as well as with other lodges.
Last night I had the honor and privilage of raising my only son. I had beed the SD through his first 2 degrees. We had the Knights of Meca come in and do the masters degree and they allowed me to raise him. Great degree.
It did bring a lump in my throat as I was so proud of him. I actually...
It is usually something bad that has happened to turn someone away from God. It may be a death of a loved one, loss of a job, or any number of things. I know several people that now do not believe any more because of such a thing.
Sad but true.
Many years ago (late 60's), I walked away from...
I agree. Each of my degrees were special to me and I feel that the meaning of each would have been "watered down" had they been in mass.
We will sometimes do 2 degrees in 1 day but they are seperate and individual.
I go for several reasons.
(1) For the brotherhood and fellowship. This is a great time to visit with your brothers
(2) To try and remain proficient in my work
(3) To help others to remain/become proficient in their work
(4) As an officer moving up in chairs, I feel a somewhat sense of duty
(5)...
