Sage words, Brother. :001_smile:
Brother Bboc, it does sound like you've been unfairly passed over, but I am going only on what you describe. Regardless, your time will come, and if you spend the interim preparing for that time, learning the work and it's meaning, you will be a craftsman who is...
You are absolutely right about this being far from over. The racists will continue to insist that their actions were justified on this or that procedural technicality, when it still really boils down to them (the racists) not wanting to admit people with the "wrong" skin color into their lodge...
A couple of one-word answers come to mind - "dues" and "membership". Yeah, the two overlap a bit, but the consideration of either as a mark in the "pro" column regarding any petitioner's worthiness is a fundamental mistake, IMO.
Then again, there are valid reasons for not recommending someone...
It certainly looks that way.
<sigh>
And all this contention over the idea that skin color should not be an issue that divides Masons. The irony is overwhelming.
Is it change to go from failing to fulfill our obligation to actually fulfilling it? Maybe we're splitting semantic hairs here, but I'd say yes. It is definitely a change, in our behavior, bringing us more in line with the "intent".
As for change for change's sake, that's seldom a good idea...
Brother, that is an outstanding idea. We should be doing more for these ladies than the traditional, once-a-year "Widows' Night" and a poinsettia at Christmas.
My idea is to bring technology into the experience, and no, I am most certainly not talking about playing a canned lecture on degree...
Wondered that myself, as I've stood in the East and delivered "the G lecture". What would I point to in a Lodge in a jurisdiction that didn't feature that letter in within the S&C's? What about those Brethren in any given Lodge who ascribe a different name to the GAOTU? Just another one of those...
Agreed, though until yesterday, I was waffling on the "rightness" of Wikileaks involvement. Yesterday, I learned that Daniel Ellsberg had weighed in with the observation that the alarmist bleating about Asange is the exact same alarmist bleating that was leveled at him, some forty-two years ago...
LOL. One of the cleverest and most insightful comments I have ever read on the matter. Well done, Brother.
And you are quite correct about the similarities, and the surprise you express is common, so common, in fact, that I find it distressing. It seems our world has been so caught up in a...
Mark this day on the calendar!
That's great news, Brother.
Tell the truth, now. You used the secret handshake to get that "special treatment", didn't you?
Agreed. Now take a deep breath and relax, brother. No one is trying to antagonize you. I would, however, ask you to thoughtfully reconsider your assumptions.
Another good point, dispelling another useless stereotype (that of the "helpless female").
But then...
You are certainly entitled to your...
I have no idea what this means.
I come from a background in emergency services that spans three decades. My peers included men and women. The skill, knowledge, ability, and temperament required to be an effective cop, firefighter, or medic is not exclusive to one gender. Then again, neither is...
Agree on the "does not change what masonry has to offer..." part, and it's true that the secrets we keep are no longer likely to earn one a death sentence for heresy, but I do like to think that the promise to keep certain secrets is an important part of the lessons of our order. You know...
Went through a similar experience about a year ago, when a pipe broke. Nothing like spending a month in a hotel over the holidays....
Anyway, as I understand it, the process is pretty much the same for any insurance underwriter in TX. They will subtract the deductible from the amount their...
Brother, I must confess that I am baffled by your association of feminism and homosexuality, though I can guess how you view both by your implication that tolerance of either is unbefitting a "MALE-MASONIC-TEXAN". Have I got that right?
