I’m familiar with the concept. I’m unaware of any ritual which supports this. I don’t find the usual arguments persuasive, in part because the sources are sometimes not reliable.

So, my rituals are wrong when they state specifically that it stands for deity? I think the confusion may be the belief that it means the same in all rituals. It does not. In some, God is specifically indicated. In some, it is Grand Geometrician. In others (Ireland), it is the Master’s word...

Well, if North America, GBNI and Western Europe are a "region", sure.

As a note, the PHA GLs in Florida and Mississippi are Union and Stringer, respectively.

Many experienced masons use the word. I use the term and I’m considered a regular Mason by your grand lodges. I’m happy to provide the names of senior masons in both who will vouch for me.

i know a number who ate both, and there were even Masonic lodges and IOOF lodges they shared space.

To clarify, GL of FL is in amity with Union GL of FL, PHA.
