    How we do things

You should probably follow the guidance on work from the Grand Lodge that chartered you. Texas has a Committee on Work the provides guidance in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws. The GL that chartered your lodge should have a similar body. Just my humble opinion.....

    Could You Imagine?

That may be the one degree where you can get the lesson by watching... remember what the candidates are doing towards the end of the degree... and in this case, the huge processions would be an excellent illustration of the underlying point of the degree. For the record, I endorse individual...

    Could You Imagine?

I'd definitely like to see and hear the orchestra and see the processions! Wow! It's an incredible degree anyway (one of my two favorites), but an orchestra would be incredible. I'd also love to have seen the floor practice!

    The Templar Uniforms

Brownwood Commandery No. 22 uses the Cap & Mantle- it's very difficult to maneuver and conduct proper sword motions with the mantle, in my humble opinion.

    So they ever come back?

We've had a couple at our lodge- two I think in the last couple years. One of them was due to military service, I think the other was due to illness.

    Addressing the Issues

Totally agree with you Bro. Brad. There will be no across the board "cuts". But if there are five or six areas that can be reduced or streamlined, or automated, or something, then maybe the sum of the savings can help. One area I'd recommend looking at is travel expenses for the officers...

    Addressing the Issues

I think if we don't get the GLoT budget in order, the pain will continue to be felt by the blue lodges through per capita increases - weaknesses in the GLoT budget are putting extreme financial pressure on many of our lodges.

    Addressing the Issues

How about a good, hard look at the GLoT operating budget?

    Views on appendant bodies

Bro. Anthony, I can certainly provide some insight on this point. During the lunch break while I was doing my Scottish Rite degrees, I was approached not once, not twice, but three times by Shriners with petitions. After the Reunion was completed, I was approached again about joining the...

    Views on appendant bodies

There are many good reasons for joining or continuing in appendant bodies. Chapter and Council are the continuation of your Blue Lodge degrees so you fill in some important blanks in "the story" begun in your first three degrees. York Rite, Scottish Rite, etc allow you to meet and mingle with...

    Texas Masons License Plates

Texas has to sell 131 more sets of Texas Masons license plates for Grand Lodge to get their $8,000 deposit back..... so close, yet.....

    My Concerns regarding Masonry

If you are turning to the internet for some of your research, I recommend the web pages for the Grand Lodges (each state has one) and perhaps Lodges of Research. You can search on "Grand Lodge of ........" (fill in the state). I understand the instinct to turn to the internet, but I always...

What is the Marshall's responsibilities brethren?

The York Rite degree work actually uses the Marshall in the conveyence of the continuation of the story. If you complete your York Degrees, you'll see the Marshall in action. You will also see other officers you are used to in the Blue Lodge perform their duties within the esoteric work of the...
