    Lodge Dues?

Our Lodge raised dues last year from $60 to $85 partly in response to the increase in GL per capita. We unfortunately lost a few members as a result of the increase, but there was just no other option. With 58 members, 17 endowed ($500) and about twenty 50 year members we depend on donations and...

    New Ring

I received mine (the P.M. version) a couple of days ago. I really like the way it looks, but I am wondering if mine may have a defect. The apex of the compasses is slightly raised above the surface of the blue part of the ring. I'm a little concerned that in might snag on something and pull...

    Raffles/Auctions

The GL has put out some pretty clear information pertaining to RAFFLES, what has not been addressed to my knowledge is if a silent auction falls under the same rules. It seems to me that a raffle is like a game of chance where you have a drawing. An auction is really just the act of selling...

    Raffles/Auctions

Is it legal to have a silent auction in conjunction with a Lodge Fundraising activity? If so would the raffle rules apply? Could the proceeds be used toward the Lodge general funds or do they have to be for a specific charity?

    Newsletter Advice

I have been putting out a single page newsletter for about four years. I put a calendar on the side with the mailing address so it can be posted on the fridge or somewhere for reference. I email a few and keep the cost to around 45 - 50 dollars a month. I don't know if it's worth it but everyone...

    Where are they now?

It's still a little early in the game to be making predictions but I think she may surprise a lot of people and do a pretty good job. I don't think she will be the "Yes Man/Girl) that Condi was. Just my humble opinion.

    Now say your sorry....

I think the Mayor is being completely self serving. he obviously doesn't care where the money comes from as long as it gets spent in his city. He should appreciate the free P.R. No reasonable person could possibly think the President was in any way trying to disparage the city of Las Vegas.

Your Prediction: Freemasonry in 5-10 Years

Blake, You might also take a look at how many of your members are actually paying dues. At my Lodge after subtracting the 50 yr, and life members only about half of the membership is paying the bills. I agree that we want quality MASONS, but numbers do count.

Your Prediction: Freemasonry in 5-10 Years

How about cutting us old guys a little slack. A lot of smaller Lodges are raising some younger Master Masons, but are losing the older ones at a similar or faster rate. most of or younger ones (not all of them) don't participate much once they are raised, that may be partly be our fault for not...

    On Yonder Book

When done right, like when done by Br. Buddy Wigley of Corsicana Lodge it is awesome and very moving. But I have seen it done where I was kind of embarrased for the Brother doing the recitation. There is more to it then simply memorizing the words.
