Intrigued to meet a taxi driver in Montreal who was a brother. He told me a little about his lodge and the Craft in Quebec. Also met a card dealer in Las Vegas who was a brother. And met an old Scotsman in San Francisco who had been master of his lodge and arranged a tour of the Grand Lodge...
The Craft always gave me more than I gave to the Craft. Met many fine people and learned a great deal. In fact, given that I’m a rough ashlar, I’ve had to learn and re-learn some things over time.
Given the ongoing decline of numbers in the Gentle Craft, has the time come to reach out and ask for new members? Through the years, I've met a good few men who would probably make fine Masons but never asked for a petition. I don't hide my membership and have a great pride in the Gentle Craft...
I have heard this description several times without actually understanding what it means. NBA great Shaquille O'Neal was made a Mason under such circumstances. Can a brother clarify? Is this promotion/elevation valid in all jurisdictions?
