I can't speak for anyone else, but for me it has been a matter of expense. I just don't make that kind of money. What with initiation fees, dues, and the uniform, I've been told it can get expensive fast.
Whatever happened to the meeting with the PHA GL that was supposedly going to occur this year? I've seen no more mention of it since last years GL Communication.
I was a MM for over a year before I petitioned the Lodge of Perfection. If you don't study the philosophy behind the blue lodge, you're not going to get as much benefit out of the 4th-32nd degrees IMO. That's just me personally though. It's up to the individual mason to decide when he is...
I don't know about your lodges, but I've seen a lot of infighting in some lodges. Older brothers just do not want to pass along responsibilities to younger brothers for one reason or another and a rift starts to form. I've seen a lot of good, newer, masons just stop coming to lodge entirely...

My advice would be to do what you think is right for you. None of us...
I just ordered this book from Amazon.com. Has anyone read it? Is it any good? I've been having trouble finding the decent masonic books to dig out from the pile of conspiracy theories and whatnot. I did read Born In Blood and found it to be very interesting.

I've used the strong grip outside of lodge to greet, but only discreetly and with those I know to be a MM. As far as the signs, I do not give those outside. I'm try to be always aware of my surroundings when doing either. I'm sure I could have done it without my knowledge before but not that...
