Seeking guidance

The title of this thread is probably misleading. I saw something today that rubbed me the wrong way and I'd like to vent a little bit...once I get it off my chest I'd really appreciate the guidance though.

I'm on the internet committee for my lodge, which means I'm in charge of the website. Now the committee really just consists of myself and one other brother but aside from the he isn't a character in this story.

Here is our official website: http://www.grandviewlodge.org/

Many of you have seen it already. It isn't pretty or fancy but it provides all relevant information for our lodge, besides, I'm no professional by any means but I try to keep it updated and looking nice when I have the time and something worth adding to it.

I inherited this a few years ago from another brother, one who disrupts the peace and harmony of our lodge on occasion but is still a very active member. At the time, our website and our Facebook page was kind of a mess so I started making changes to improve it, at least by my standards.

Anyhow, fast forward to today. This brother is head of a project in the community that really isn't associated with the lodge aside from the fact that we're in charge of maintenance of it. It has it's own Facebook page and has a good following in the community. So today, when I log on Facebook I notice that he's using his page to mention an upcoming fundraiser the lodge is having, which is...ok, after all, we could use the publicity I guess.

Attached to his post is a link, so I clicked it and came to this:

So the brother is not on the internet committee and is sharing his own website he made for the lodge as it were our official site? This is exactly what I tried to move it away from.

So I'll be talking to the WM about this. I've debated all kinds of ways I should handle this, or if I should handle it at all, but I think ultimately I'll leave it to the WM...at least that's my current intent.

What do you brothers think about the situation? I think if nothing is done or said then this will become a habit based off the brother's history...to be honest I'm a bit weary of battling wills against the guy all the time. On the other hand though, very few brothers have really suggested anything they'd like to see added to our website, something which I'd be glad to do if it seemed reasonable, but I don't want to throw everything Masonic that's under the sun on our website either. I don't understand the need to go behind the committee's back and make a completely new website.

I thought I'd feel better but now I'm just a little more frustrated lol.

I think going through wm is the right thing. Lodge 'management' should decide how lodge presense on the internet should be organized.

Does Texas have an internet policy? In Minnesota, all web sites that in any way indicate a connection to Minnesota Freemasonry must be approved by the Grand Lodge, and the approval statement posted on the home page.
