    time limits

The same amount as an EA, a year. It's the Master mason who has 90 days. If one goes over the time limit, one must petition for advancement after turning in their work. (Someone correct me on the details if I'm wrong.)

    Women Freemasons

Well, I think most people understand that there are female jurisdictions, and they aren't going to go away if we close our eyes and stick our fingers in our ears. I think the real question becomes, "Should we allow them in our jurisdiction?", to which I think most would answer with a...

    Hand Slightly Inside the Coat

According to Wikipedia (for what it's worth) that's a gesture that originates from Classical times, when Aeschines, founder of a school for rhetoric, suggested that speaking with an arm outside one's toga was rude. Since people back then were much more classically trained than we are today, I...

    How do feel about this?

Class action lawsuit on behalf of all Masons? :p I know, no trademark. Still.

    How do feel about this?

Same here, it's rude at best. Monetizing a symbol used by others solely for profit? Not right by anyone's standards I think.

The WM has the gavel. He does what he wants. :)

Cell phone use in the Lodge

He could have been texting another brother of the lodge, "Where are you, the WM is opening..." or something along those lines. I know that's been the case in our lodge before, but typically cell phones are on vibrate and put away.

    One Day Journey

The Shrine requirement that a man be a Knight Templar or a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason is, as was pointed out above, no longer in effect.

    One Day Journey

I'm inclined to agree. Having been made a Master Mason very recently, it's still kind of ridiculous to me how many bodies are supported solely through plural memberships. As an outsider looking in, it's simply a bandage on a deep wound. It's kind of silly.

    Brother Shaquille O'Neal

My understanding is that Masons made 'on sight' still go through the degrees, but they don't have to turn in proficiencies, merely take part in the rituals themselves. Someone wiser than me ought to feel free to correct me if that isn't the case.

    Brother Richard Dreyfuss

Mike, perhaps you should contact Brother Hodapp and mention your findings to him. See what he has to say about it.

    Brother Richard Dreyfuss

    Yeah. My thoughts as well.

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

That's an excellent point, brother. Never really thought about that connection, but it's certainly worth bringing up.
