Houston Festival this Month?

No York Rite. They tend to call them festivals as the Scottish Rite calls them reunions in my area. I am already a 32nd deg. with the AASR. I don't know very much about the York Rite but am interested and we have a local chapter in my town. I need to ask in my lodge next time I am there. One of my friends there is the Thrice Illustrious Master, whatever that is.

Correct, reunion = SR, festival = YR. My 64th district (Fort Worth/Tarrant County) is holding one in September (which I will be doing the long form IPC role in the Royal Master degree ^_^). I would imagine that a lot of districts are holding them at similar times. Your friend who is a TIM (btw, that is the WM equivalent in the Cryptic Council) *should* know the details of the festival. If not, your Masters, Wardens, and Secretaries Association (and by extension YOUR lodge secretary) should have details, I would think.

The Houston area festival is August 17th at Holland Lodge. It will begin with registration at 6:30am the first degree will start at 7:00am and the Order of the Temple should end around 7:00pm. It is honoring M.E. Tommy Chapman Grand High Priest and R.E. Bart Henderson Right Eminent Grand Commander. There is also a recepition for R.E. Henderson on Sunday the 11th at the Arabia Shrine Temple from 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Looks like I will have to wait til the next one. I will be on a cruise on the 17th. :(
I'm doing mine at the Helotes Festival on September 27th. I'm not sure if they've published details on it yet, but my understanding is that registration starts at 7:30 (need a letter requesting that they do the work as a courtesy), and the degrees follow. They're doing everything except the Orders.

Congratulations! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I went through the MMM degree here locally, but I'll be doing the rest via festival next month. Good to know it's a good way to do it.

Just received my York Rite degrees and orders at the Houston festival. It was a long day but worth it.
