What do you Love about FreeMasonry?

In lite of all the ranting I felt it necesary to bring our energy back to the positive and post on thread on the good things about the craft. I know there has to be more things we love about it since we are here so what do you hold near and dear to your heart about the craft?

1. The Friends, good true friends you can count on

2. The freedom to see it as I see it

3. The wisdom it offers and teaches

4. it's anonymity

5. memory work, yeah I said memory work I love study sessions they always lead to some deep discussions to help a candidate understand what they are learning.

6. Trust, the grip means I trust you simple as that.

7. It's ability to be so many things to so many people and be right everytime.

8. The old wise men who dump wisdom in your lap at every turn.

9. My Pop passed away a few months ago and a Mason contacted my Grandma to tell her about her options as a widow of a Mason and that nearly brought a tear to my eye as she was happy to know it and is thinking about it; so in short the that we take care of each other very well.

Great post Brother Rhit.

1. First and foremost, the Brotherhood. For me, Masonry tears down the walls of social status, economic level, age and race and makes all men equal.

2. Trust. I've never had anything "on the square" be divulged.

3. I feel at home no matter where I'm at. I've traveled a bit and no matter where I am, if there's a Masonic Lodge or Brother, I know that I have someone who I can trust.

4. Moral Lessons. To me, Freemasonry reinforced my Religion.

5. The secrecy (I know, but it's still intriguing)

6. Religious tolerance. Let's be straight, this does not conflict with Religion, in my case Christianity. Even though I express my viewpoints and beliefs (and boy do I), I have to acknowledge that others do not share it. I can only extend the same courtesy as it's ultimately left up to God to Judge.

7. My oldest Son thinks Masons are equal to Superman because "dad is". The other day my 5 year old son put on my Scottish Rite ring. I told him "Hey bud, you can't wear that ring unless you're a Mason". He looked up and told me that he couldn't wait to be one. Stuff like that makes me proud to be a Father and Mason.

8. I like being held to a higher standard in that you are more aware of your actions.

There are many things that I cherish about this fraternity. I have worked from Maine to California, and 15 years in foreign Countries. (I am in Iraq now). Masonry gives my life some "continuity". I am unable to make solid, lifelong, friends in my career situation. But with Masonry, I have friends and brothers world-wide. Even in this place.

My wife can rely on the brothers, and their wives, if she gets in a jam, back home.

I cherish the "quiet retreat" of Masonry, where I can go into a lodge building, and leave the outside world behind, and recharge my "batteries".

I thought about this last night and I am glad this is on here.

1.) Being surrounded by good people.

2) Getting to know so many people where we all are headed in one direction. A candidate said it the other day and it stuck, "We all are headed to the same city, just taking different roads." Rhit was there.

3) Sitting and talking about the good that the craft does

4) Seeing the look in the eye of a Brother when the light goes off

5) That I can look at one of the many symbols and never know ALL that it can mean.

6) To see that one thing touches me in a way, then effect someone else totally differently.

7) That I am with Family NO MATTER where I go in this world.

8) I am able to think out loud sometimes and get other perspectives on any topic and not be judged or told I am wrong by others

9) To see the reactions of people we give to with our Christmas programs, Scholarships and etc.

This is what keeps me going. Sometimes I wonder why I am so active. It would be so easy to just be a card carrier and the things above is why. That is why I believe this is hands down one of the best decisions I have ever made and I am proud to be a part of it. Its not because of my grandfather, my uncle, my dad, or the Grand Lodge of TX or the Grand Master. It is so much bigger then them. Masonry is not a Person, a Lodge or a Building it is EVERYTHING. From the center of the earth and as high as the highest heavens. That is what I have to keep remembering.

1) the great friends i have made since coming in. friends that will be there for you when you need them,and will help you when some one steals you identity
2)The closer relationship it has made for me and my dad
3)Being apart of something that has been around for hundreds of years,and doing my part to make sure it is around for hundreds more.
4)The higher standard we set for and hold each other too.
