I posted my previous article in the general subforum, but this one's a little more educational :)

I finally registered a domain for my blog, and I hope you will all enjoy and learn something.

My latest writing is up, at the following address, and is titled "The Two Pillars of Masonry"

Brother, here is something of interest: occasionally in Masonic icnography, you will find the first letter of the name of each pillar (so yud in the case of Jachin and beth in the case of Boaz) on the respective pillar. If you combine those two characters - yud and beth - you arrive at the Hebrew for "in me"...as in the pillars, in combination (recall that they signify polar opposites) create "in me," i.e., that which is in you, which is deity - in which all opposites are reconciled. Recall the acronym V.I.T.R.I.O.L here.

The Solomonic pillars likely carried the same signification as most other pillar pairs, e.g., the emerald and gold pillars in the temple of Hercules/Melqart at Tyre, the twin pillars in the temple of Aphrodite at Paphos, the pillars of the temple of Atargatis and Haddad at Hierapolis, the mythic, so-called "pillars of Hercules," the pillars erected by Titus in Antioch, etc.

Interesting.
I only wish we had more such discussion at our stated meetings.

Thanks for sharing.

Ask your WM if you can give a short presentation, followed by some discussion. That's how it begins.

Another brother and I will bring it up on Wednesday. We're having two EA's coming in and I am sure they'll want to hear something a bit more substantial other than motions to pay the electric bill and hurrying to close short form just to go downstairs to eat stale cookies and water.
