Grand lodge website

Does anyone know why the Grand Lodge of Texas' site took all the officers off the lodge info pages?

Example: You'd go to the the lodge locator button and pick which way you wanted to find a lodge. Then you could see, if they updated it, the lodge officers. Now you cant.

I would guess because the installations are just now finished and they are updating with the new officers...

We just updated ours. It finally said the right people and a week later all of the officers are gone from all the lodges.

The GL doesn't update that themselves. Our page, until recently, said the officers from three or four years ago were still in their seats.

The secretaries had access to the page and were able to update the officers and put notices there of events

Yeah. So why are all the names gone? When I was looking for a lodge to join those names were how I knew who to talk to.

It could have to do with the process of moving information to the NEW, dare I say NEW, Grand Lodge Website. They have been testing it for a month or so now and are planning to unviel it once it is proven. I was told a month ore two but they promised before Annual Communications. I was also told it will rival a good one so we will see. That is the only thing I can think is they are working to see how that will look on the prototype.

By Order of the Grand Master. The officers listing were about 85% out of date. In some cases 4 and 5 Years out of date. Incorrect data was being persented to other Lodges and Public accessing Grand Lodge Web Site. Some Lodge Secretary's maintained their pages very well, however, most did not or did not know how to change data. In my district out of 7 lodges in our District our lodge was the only one that was up to date. I think that they will be back back up later date. Probably maintain in a different manner.

So it is the responsibility of the Lodge Secretary to update the information? I wasn't sure how that worked..lol

Yes It is the Secreary's responsibility. and it required a different web address, logon and password. Betty at Grand Lodge gave me the name and phone # of the Brother in charge of server where it was housed I cannot find his name at present time. This was several years ago. process may have changed now. Mine was still working in June when I updated our Officers and Lodge info. I can still edit lodge info and lodge news.

A new Website will be awesome because the current one while it assist in giving information is difficult at best to navigate. Do you know if they are going to start putting more Multi-media in play. For example Video updates from the Grand Master, Committee Chairs, etc... Also has there been any thought of a forum based secure area.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, just Owls post got me to thinking.
