I've often wondered...

I've often wondered to myself or tried to picture in my mind how grand and glorious the entrance to the Sanctum Sanctorum of the great and grand celestial lodge above must look like.

This sort of comes to mind.. or at least mine anyway.

As Grand Organist I quite often think about various hymns that reference light and this is one of my favorites.

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
thy justice like mountains high soaring above
thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life thou givest, to both great and small;
in all life thou livest, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
and wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

Great Father of glory; pure Father of light,
thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
all laud we would render; O help us to see
’tis only the splendor of light hideth thee!

Am I the only one? or have any of you given thought to this same quesiton?

Brother that just got me thinking about something as well. What if that is truely our Master's degree. What if we don't get access to the Sanctum Sanctorum until we pass. I mean we are in constant journey to the secrets and meanings to the symbols how could one possibly be raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason until then? Wow. I think this will make a great discussion topic at Lodge. Thanks.

I tend to relate things to music. I believe in my heart that music is the only true divine language.

Music truly eclipses the spoken word as it conveys its meaning and message through feeling.

As to your post.. I agree with you. I believe that we are "hoodwinked" until we are able to freely pass the inner and outer door of that Celestial Grand Lodge above. 1 Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly"

Look at how many hymns refer to that very thing.. Take for example "Amazing Grace" .. "I once was Blind but Now I see" or the hymn that I referenced above.. "Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise" .. "tis only the splendor of light hideth thee!"

The scriptures refer to the apostle Paul being "Blinded" before he could see and in Isaiah 42:16
"And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them"

Of course my favorite Psalm or Song by King David is from the 27th Psalm: "The Lord Is My Light and my salvation"

I too, have thought about what the entrance might look like! All we can do is remain fair and upright Masons on this earth, and when our time comes and we face our creator, we can put down our tools, and with our clean white aprons say: "Your orders have been carried on as requested father, everything was just and perfect"
