Seeking information and guidance in Fairfield TX

Is anyone on here affiliated with the Fairfield TX lodge?
I am seeking information about possibly joining in the near future. I have been extremely curious since I was a child due to my Father and Uncle both being Masons.
I spoke with my Father many times about Freemasonry and he told me that when the time was right, if it was a path I wanted to take, I would know it.
My Father passed 2 years ago and my Uncle passed a few years prior to him.
I feel like the time is now. My only worry is if I will have enough time to dedicate to the steps that I need to take to become a Mason. I do not want to start the process and not be able to dedicate the sufficient time to what I need to do. I do not want to have anyone think that I am not dedicated.
Suggestions?:confused1:

I don't know if there are any brothers from Fairfield on these forums, but if there are, they're a good place to start. Best thing you can do is get to know the members of the lodge there. If no one on the forums is a member, contact the lodge itself. Many lodges have monthly breakfasts, sometimes more often than that, that are open to the public. It's a great way to feel out a lodge and its membership. Some have dinners before their meetings. While you wouldn't be able to attend the meeting itself until you are a Mason, often times the dinners are open.

In terms of time commitment, it's pretty self paced. Between degrees there are required catechisms to learn within a certain time span, but you have quite a bit of time to learn them. However, there aren't any requirements on the number of meetings you have to attend, or anything like that. I would encourage you to be active, as you get out of it what you put into it, but in terms of time commitment, that's something that's kind of up to you. There are financial requirements (annual dues), but those are typically pretty reasonable. Certainly, look into it, meet the members of the lodge, and decide on your own.

Your heart will make the right decision. Follow your instincts. Brother Benton's guidance is a good starting point.

Thank you both for the advice, I really do appreciate it.
I will attempt to make some visits to the lodge very soon.

Last month I emailed the Secretary of Fairield Lodge #103 and expressed my interest to petition in the near future. I was extended an open invitation to come by the lodge for dinner.
Fast forward to today.
I started attending a Bible study group at the new Church that my wife and I are about to join. It turns out that the Secretary of the local lodge happens to be in the Bible study group that I chose.
It is amazing how things fall in to place in life. I truly believe that God has a hand in the seemingly "unimportant" decisions that we make each day. I look back and I am amazed how events led up to the two of us to meet face to face in a common area, outside of the lodge.
I am looking forward to meeting more of 103's members very soon.
My path has been laid out with help from above and I feel even more strongly that I am headed in the correct path.

I think you mis-spoke brother. I don't think you believe either of these decisions were unimportant. Personally, I'm pretty happy with your having made both. Good luck and good travels in your personal quest for light.

Thank you sir, I am looking forward to the journey.
On July 7th, I will step foot, for the first time, in the lodge that I am planning on petitioning. I can hardly wait!

Good luck on your journey - you will not regret this decision.
We all make life changing decisions - our decisions toward God -our decision on a mate - the decision to become a Mason - one of the easiest decisions and one when combined with the other two are all three mulitiplier of the others.
