Some of this seems hard to implement...

Investigation Manual said:
Tell the neighbor that you are considering entering into a relationship with his neighbor, and
you would like to know what he thinks of him. Ask if he is a good
neighbor. Ask if his neighbor’s children are well behaved. There is
no necessity to mention the Fraternity, unless of course you know
the person to be a Mason.

Wouldn't this strike you as odd if you were on the receiving end of this vague inquiry? Do most people check with the neighbors? I ask for perspective, since Texas is basically the size of a country. Practice can vary by location. ;)

That is why it should be called a guide not manual.

Does that mean that a guide by the GLoT does not have to be abided by? I did notice the seal on the first page .... Reason I ask is that we are going to start having Masonic Investigations workshops. By having a guide from GLoT does that mean one does or does not have to follow the document? Also, who determines the changes/updates to the document? I think that there are going to be many opinions on the "guide" on whether to follow or not. This may be a challenge to try & get others on a positive "same sheet of music" for Texas lodges.

A manual has words like shall and not will or may.
