I am interested to know what keeps men in Masonry. Different men join for different reasons. I guess different aspects of Masonry appeal to the different types of men who are Masons. I see sometimes, men join the fraternity, and after a year or two ,will drop out. Why? And more importantly, what...
Here is a roster of all of the states that currently have an official Masonic license plate. Florida has plans to get a plate, but there have been some difficulties in getting it through the final approval process. Arkansas has an official Masonic plate, but Arkansas Masons are forbidden by...
Delighted to hear the news. I flew back from Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago. I must complete some training schools, and then I will be heading back to the roof of the world, after the first of the year. I have been working there (by choice) since 2004. If you wish to keep up with my travels...
I belong to a lodge in KY. The dues are $65, which I think is a bargain. I would not object to a reasonable dues increase, at least enough to keep up with the increased costs since our last increase.
One example I want to relate:
Mizpah Shrine (Fort Wayne IN), had a dues rate of $40 per year...

There are many reasons. My USA residence is in Virginia. I belong to the lodge where I was raised, Bowling Green KY lodge #73. I was given a membership in Macedonian Lodge , in Quincy Massachusetts. I work in Afghanistan. When I finish this overseas work, I will join a lodge near my Virginia...
May I add my congratulations! You seemed to have grasped one of the most important lessons, that is not specifically taught in the MM degree. The Master Mason degree, is NOT the end of the individual's journey in Masonry. It is the BEGINNING. There are many more lessons and paths to...
I am not accusing anyone of deliberately mis-reporting anything. (BTW- I used to work for the US Department of Commerce, bureau of the Census. So I have a background in statistical analysis and reporting. I am also a Kentucky Mason).
Somehow, there is a "glitch" between the numbers published...
I am delighted to see this thread. The membership numbers posted by the MSANA, are based on the data provided by the Grand Lodges. If there are any discrepancies, I cannot understand why. Grand Lodges have no reason to under-report their memberships. And the MSANA has no reason to over-report...
I always list my organizations and clubs on my resume. If you are in a career, which requires you to deal with the public (sales, etc) employers want individuals who have experience in non-profit organizations. Listing Freemasonry on my resume has never been a problem with potential employers.
The Masonic Service Association of North America, maintains a statistical data base. The information is provided by the various Grand Lodges of the USA and Canada. I have found their information to be very useful, in tracking various trends in Freemasonry.

This "White Paper", has been on the net, for some years. I feel it is important, and should be seriously considered. Please see:

My home lodge in KY, has an organ. We had an organist for many years, who would play a tune during the degree ceremonies. Sadly, many lodges have lost their organ, and live music played in degree work, is disappearing fast. I attended lodge in Fredericksburg VA. Lodge #4 has an excellent sound...
None of the phrases or terms from Masonry are copyrighted. Brother Harry Truman had an economic program, called the "Square Deal". Masonic? maybe. You might see a political slogan' "Vote for John Smith, he is on the level".
Interesting site (where the various states are shown). To all you masons, who do not yet have them, you need to get with your state legislators, and demand the tags. I initiated the legislation to get the Masonic plates in KY.
You will notice that Arkansas has a Masonic plate. Members of...
There are several individual and groups around the USA, which are opposed to Freemasonry. Please see:
http://masonicinfo.com/types.htm
These individuals and groups sometimes meet to discuss their efforts. I attended one of their conferences in St. Louis in 1995, and one in Atlanta in 1996...
