Sometimes people complicate things, the very simple answers to your actual questions are:
1) There is no actual link between Freemasonry and the Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple.
2) No if you want to be come a an actual KNight Templar there is no point in you joining...
You will notice that the page that I have referred you to is on the website of the Grand Lodge that you would become a member under and that it invites you to telephone the Grand Lodge in order to regsister to be sent an information pack about joining.
Have you telephoned the Grand Lodge?

Just for accuracy, Prince Hall was Initiated into an Irish Travelling Lodge and the Lodge that he Founded was Warranted by the Premier Grand Lodge of England.

The "actual" historic Monastic Order (Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple at Jerusalem) headed by de Molay has nothing to do with Freemasonry.
The appendant Order for Master Masons is just a "commemorative" Order there is no link.
The ONLY way to truly appreciate the position of the Appendant Degrees and Bodies is to become familiar with their actual (not legendary) histories. Then you will understand why they are not superior to the Craft but only additions.

Hi Dave there, is a protocol for visiting in another Grand Lodge's territory, unless you actually know a brother who will vouch for you.
Your Lodge Secretary will make the arrangements for you.

I beg to differ that is (at least) the design of the registered patch of the UK Chapter of Widow's Sons Masonic Riders' Association and I would expect that they took it from their parent Chapter in the US.
