We all join Masonry for our own reasons that should never be judges by others.
Some men are content with fellowship and what we do upstairs is the work whereas some men see ritual and wearing an apron as the core meaning of masonry and fellowship is a means to their end. Then you have those in...
I understand the privacy it affords. I also know that electronic communication lacks emotion and the tone could be misinterpreted.
There is a time and a place for everything.
Here is my take on the original post.
The brother doing the correcting was too afraid to do it in person or had a bug...
Brother, may I speak to you for a minute?
I'm now aware that I made a mistake. Thanks for the correction. However if in the future you need to say something to me please do it in person.
I will afford you the same respect if I ever need to do same.
Thanks.
Peace and Harmony but remember...
Masonry became about numbers the moment masonry centered on money.
We redid our lodge last summer. Now we're feeling the crunch. Every meeting is someone selling tickets for some X night at the lodge. 25- here 50- there. That adds up when you have a child in day care which is pulling 900+ a...
It's like meeting new people at a party. You eventually settle in with a cliche that you get along with. It is the same with lodges. You float around until you find one that fits.
There is nothing more uncomfortable than shaking hands with men you want to get to know yet wind up looking at them...
Those situations suck but I'm also a bit put off that someone told you why you were blackballed. I think you should have petitioned another lodge when you had the chance given the inside knowledge you had at the time.
Good luck
You are not allowed to ask that question in my jurisdiction. Is that allowed in your Jurisdiction? That makes me feel uncomfortable.
It's like handing the bullets to your firing squad if the men do not like your answer or they found out you lied to garner favor.
Between initiation and being raised you will be doing memory work.
Concentrate on learning what the work means and not regurgitating it when you need to.
So avoid reading too much. Save the questions for your mentor. He will tell you what you need to know when you need to know it.
Re: if i came to you lodge on a stated what would
Our Senior Decon does the introductions in my jurisdiction and he is tasked with seeking out all who need to be introduced prior to the lodge opening. You would not get looked over here.
Re: if i came to you lodge on a stated what would
Our two stewards cook dinner.
suit, jacket and tie.
We recognize visiting brethren and introduce them after the gavels sounds to be seated after all purple aprons are introduced.
See 3.
I like the idea but an age specific group seems like it undermines certain aspects of the Lodge when it comes to voting. "I'm sorry, but your too old to give us a new look at Masonry" It may create a rift between the younger crowd and the older crowd. We are supposed to keep harmony in Lodge...
We get about 30 ~ 40 people.
We are teaming up with the Commander at the local American Legion this spring to combine our fundraiser. I'm not sure if that is finalized yet but if it happens I will report the numbers as best I can.
Cigar Night. (Outdoors)
50 dollars for smokers.

35 dollars for non smokers.

--Burgers, Dogs, Sausage, Fries, etc.
The only money out is the cigars, food and lighters. It nets us...
on a side note, I watch pawn stars. I caught a repeat and noticed the old man had a kitchen apron on that read, "Real men wear aprons."
Before I was a mason I thought it meant real men have no problem being in the kitchen.
After I was a mason, I had another view point...
$350. 100 dollar app fee. 250 due at initiation. Covers dues for the year and other degree items passed out.
104 if you go through paypal so figure three dollars off that fee.
Our average is roughly 20 not including officers. We have 250ish members. We could not seat every member if they came...
We have what is called "Breakfast with Hiram," on the third saturday of every month. Even when we are dark in the summer.
It is open to Masons and the public.
A brother runs it with help. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. (a simple breakfast menu)
Its a nominal fee for the food and it gets the...
The great seal of the United States was a collaboration of men. It represents our nation never complete (ever growing) and under the watchful eye of god. A time when religion was taken more seriously than it is today.
The men who designed it were American but were born before that freedom was...
