Careful, some people never escape there. My dad was 5th Group for 26 years, retired and moved all the way to Raeford. He finally got as far as Whispering Pines, says it feels like another world.
Imagine visiting UGLE lodges, where there are more than fifty different rituals practiced! My own experience coming from NM to CA has been that the differences are subtle but striking.
Which lodge did you go to?
There doesn't seem to be one in KY, though some lodges may be using "observant" philosophies. Even without the TO or EC tag, it's quite easy to adopt ideals. Brother Hammer's book (mentioned in the article previously posted) is an excellent reference. The simple act of stopping all sideline...
Our District Inspector made a comment at the Officers Association meeting recently that bears consideration; "The Master of the Lodge should never be surprised by a black ball." Any objection to a Candidate should make it to the East long before the ballot takes place.

It was good in the sense that the author clarified what the Shriner was actually trying to say (and that he was yanking the cameraman's chain), but the author is, above all else, an anti doing everything possible to "save Christians" from the evils of Freemasonry.
To have Faith, regardless of the brand, implies a moral compass. That might be considered the "good" in the old chestnut. Freemasonry's "system of morality" then has a firm foundation in making the good man "better," whereas an immoral man cannot be made better as there is nowhere for the system...
The only high-level plot I've discovered has been personal greed disguised as selflessness. It's interesting what having the keys to Camelot will do to some people...
