Is it too much to expect, from men of the caliber that we like to think Masons are, that such of a document (Masonic Bill of Rights) would be unnecessary? Not that I am advocating anarchy. Far from it. The notion that an organization such as ours does not need structure and guidelines of some...
Great stuff, Blake.
These are just a couple of the "small things" that we should be doing for every one of our newer Brothers. Nothing, not one single thing, is as important for these men as showing them that they are our Brother by making them feel genuinely welcome as an important part of...
A fire hazard, to be sure, and there are probably fire codes in many places that prohibit the burning of candles in occupancies of a certain density, without sprinklers, etc. But I keep wondering, what about churches, and restaurants? I've seen one priest, one altar boy, and one 20' high...
I hope you're right, but I don't see medical insurance companies much worried about PR these days.
I'm hoping that The Shrine finds a way to cover those out-of-pocket expenses in a way that doesn't run afoul of the insurance companies rules. A separate financial entity, perhaps, that could gift...
Reference materials abound, so crafting a suitable presentation should not difficult at all. The hard part is the "...if so desired..." part. Call me cynical, but I have seen little evidence that a Qur'an (or Torah, or Bhagvad Gita, etc.) presentation would be well received, or even permitted...
I wonder how they will deal with the deductible and (sometimes very stringent) co-pay requirements. Some insurance companies are very fussy about such things, prohibiting care providers from using discounts and other creative ways of shielding patient's from those out-of-pocket expenses.
Interesting indeed. Rather reinforces something that music lovers, and especially musicians and vocalists have known intuitively all along - There's a definite physical rush that comes along once in a great while, when the performance or session is just right...

Wow...
Really...
An jacket patch set this off?
And we're arguing about how Shriners behave... <shakes head>
Something tells me that there's a bit more to the story.
One word (OK, one acronym), CMS. An easy to use content management system, set up with a stock template or a nice custom job, will ensure that even when Brother Webmaster is away (sometimes for good) the content of the site can be maintained by almost anyone who can type. No programming or...
I'd say that's pretty close. If one believes that each of us is in need of redemption, then yes, Freemasonry is a fine way to find it. Freemasonry does not offer a rigidly dogmatic list of do's and don't's as it's "system of morality". It is crucial to note that that "system" is presented...
Proceeding on an admittedly incomplete understanding of what is meant by "...get out of the lodges and into the streets and get our hands dirty..."
Almost a century's worth of institutionalized philanthropy notwithstanding, it must be said that Freemasonry was not meant to be that (a...
I ponder that very thing, to one extent or another, ever single day. I've been an Internet user since before there was a "world wide web". The realization of how powerful this thing was hit me like a ton of bricks the first time I used Gopher to find some piece of information and found it in...
