I agree. It used to be that when we left home we left the phone behind. If we had an answering machine it got checked when we got home.
I try to remember to silence mine when going into the lodge or leave it in the car.
The worst example I have seen of rude cell-phone behavior was the lodge...
Agreed, but we should be able to create an extract of the minutes pertaining to the bank accounts, (or any other matter that has to be disclosed to the outside world), sign it by the WM and have it certified by the Secretary, (including the seal).
Works for me.
The Texas Hospital Association, which represents only a portion of the hospitals in Texas, says its members employ 350,000 "health care professionals".
If the fifty million per week is used only for compensating these people, thats about $150.00 per week each. Thats less than minimum wage and...
Although recognition of one Grand Lodge by another should be based on a careful review of the other Grand Lodge's adherance to the "ancient landmarks", it is difficult to determine what really are the "ancient landmarks". I doubt seriously if there is any Grand Lodge in the World that adhers to...
Probably didn't have to, but with a membership that includes at least a dozen Brothers addressed as Worshipful, Right Worshipful, or Most Worshipful and twenty or thirty Past Masters, I have learned that no matter what I decide to do, someone is going to tell me either that I can't do that or...
I agree wholeheartedly in principle, but there is a problem in practice. Our members have to see a need for the education before they will partake of it.
I am in the Rio Grande Valley. There are, I would guess, ten Lodges here. That means TWENTY people that should attend the Wardens' Retreat...
Good suggestion. And I'm going to use that as the answer to a number of other law questions I have. The DDGM may not always be right but he is always the DDGM.
When I am alone, (entirely too often these days), I rarely laugh out loud, even at some very funny things. This time however, I not only laughed out loud but did so until my sides were aching and tears were rolling down my cheeks. Without a doubt, that is some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen.
I agree. Thats my reading as well. And that is what I plan to do for the 24th.
However, some of our members are arguing that we don't need to go dark. We can just change the date of the stated meeting and notify Grand Lodge what we are doing.
I don't agree with them. I believe that to change...
What do you mean "That's all we did..."?
Do you mean that you changed your by-laws and notified GL after doing so or that you changed your meeting dates without a by-law change?
I'm still confused.
I believe we can "go dark" without a by-law change, but who if anyone do we have to notify that we are doing that?
As for holding the stated meeting on a different date, can we do that without a by-law change. (What you've quoted looks like we can change our by-laws in...
Like the Lodge mentioned in another thread, our stated meeting is specified in our by-laws as being the fourth Thursday of the month. That always means Thanksgiving and this year it also means Christmas eve.
Our by-laws do not currently provide for alternate days in case of holidays.
We do...
I'm not sure how we can define anything's character by whether or not it is in a codebook or whether or not it is in code.
Which codebook? The Grand Lodge of Texas, ("GLoTX"), doesn't publish one nor do they endorse any particular one as correct. Yes, there is more than one "codebook".
What...
