For convenience, we generally just refer to "the Grand Lodge of . . ." but the full, legal name includes the "Most Worshipful" part. As for the precise wording for an individual, I've always used "Most Worshipful Brother", but the main purpose is the respect the title implies, and saying " Most...
My Grand Lodge is "The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Minnesota." I think the "Most Worshipful" part is pretty common in the full name of American Grand Lodges.
I was a police officer for 25 years, currently teach law enforcement. I honestly don't have a thought about it, because it's apples and oranges. For one thing, there's a MUCH wider age range in a Masonic Lodge, so you'll have less in common outside of Lodge.
Have them read Is It True What They Say About Freemasonry by Arturo DeHoyos, S. Brent Morris and Jim Tresner. Or read it yourself so you are armed with the counter arguments.
However, don't expect much. I've found those who are invested in anti-Masonry don't want to hear any evidence to the...
We've had a couple of guys join just to become Shriners. Some, in fact, have never been back to blue lodge. One, who will tell you he only joined to become a shriner, never misses a meeting and has been lodge secretary now for about 8 years. You never know.
If an appendant/concordant body requires its members be Masons, then the Grand Lodge has a say in whether its members can belong. So the Shrine is different than a bowling league or your church.
Our fundraiser that I discussed above is not to provide operating funds for the Lodge. The proceeds are strictly for the charitable giving of the Lodge.
Ill. Bro. Albert Mackey communicated 4° through 32° to Albert Pike in one afternoon. Pike communicated the Lodge of Perfection degrees (4-14) to multiple members of my Lodge in one afternoon in 1879 when he visited Minnesota.
Prior to Pike reworking the degrees, a lot of them were not much...
The working tools are not part of the secrets of the degree. The methods of conferring the degree and the modes of recognition are the secrets of the degree. The symbols are displayed and discussed openly. Don't worry, it's not a trap.
For the last few years, we've done a wine and cheese tasting event that has been very successful. However, a lot of Grand Lodges won't allow anything to do with alcohol, so it's not an option in a lot of jurisdictions. In Minnesota it's no problem as long as there's no alcohol in the actual...
Yeah, one of the problems of rural lodges is that merger isn't really an option. Oh, it happens on paper, but they often merge with a lodge 30-40 minutes away or more, and the brothers of the lodge that gets absorbed don't go to the new location.
The point of no return is when the charter is surrendered, and not before. Ten years ago, my lodge was teetering on the brink. Grand Lodge was discussing not if, but when, they were going to come down and take the charter and figure out the disposition of lodge properties. It didn't happen...
1. It's hard to describe Freemasonry. It is the world's oldest fraternity, and is different things to different brothers. Some participate for the philosophical pursuit of improvement of the mind and person. Some for the charitable aspect. Some strictly for the fellowship and brotherhood...
Ah, but it is the job of the lodge to point you in the right direction, to provide support for your work, to answer your questions when you think you've run into walls. And we need to be better at that.
You're not asking for facts, because as was stated above, the facts are freely available. The "evidence" proposed by those who don't believe the moon landing happened has all been debunked, such as on the show Myth Busters. You clearly have rejected the evidence and want to reject any further...
Does Texas have an internet policy? In Minnesota, all web sites that in any way indicate a connection to Minnesota Freemasonry must be approved by the Grand Lodge, and the approval statement posted on the home page.
