As an Entered Apprentice or Fellowcraft, you're pretty much tied to your "home lodge," the lodge where you're taking your degrees. You can visit other lodges when they're open at a degree equal to or less than what you've achieved, but you will generally need to be in the company of a Master...
Hanging out with the Brothers... Outside of work, most of my time has been eaten watching after my mother in the nursing home. Lodge night is a break from that grind, and it's a lot nicer hanging out and chatting with folks who aren't in dotage or otherwise demented...
Plus, learming the...
While checking one of the references above, I was reminded in an adjoining section: ""For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
For scarcely a righteous man will one die; yet peradventure for a good man, some would even dare to die. But God commendeth...
Is this the same lodge you intend to petition? You might try hanging around there a bit more... e.g., going to some of the public functions such as family or guest night, breakfasts, etc. This does two things: it lets the lodge members get to know you better and form a basis of knowledge for...
Freemasonry being rather broad and diverse in it's acceptance and support of a man's faith, I think you would be best off starting with your own church's Bible study program. Me, I prefer to study the scripture directly, maybe using several different translations sometimes to help under stand...
We occasionally get shipments of Shiner up here in the wilds of Arkansaw, and the Ruby Redbird piqued my curiousity... I actually liked it, but I like some of the stuff that Blue Moon and new Belgium are putting out, too. Pretty much a summer brew, but I'd try it again.
Sometimes life does get in the way... Last night, I had the privilege of serving as senior deacon as we conferred the FellowCraft degre on a brother who had taken his EA obligation over 28 years ago... Brother L. had family obligations, then some health problems, then eventually hooked up...
We're "mainstream," not PHA, but for reference, our fees are $30 for the criminal background check, $120 for the three blue lodge degrees, and once raised, $60/year for annual dues.
Is there a local lodge in your community? That's a good place to start. Maybe you already have some friends or neighbors who are members.
There should be a sign out front somewhere noting when meeting nights are, or maybe a bulletin board with some friendship-type events. Show up about an...
No change here in Arkansas... The Shrine is still a clandestine organization so far as the Grand Lodge is concerned. The GM's letter was supposed to be read in at least three stated communications per lodge, and as that is winding down, GL letters are going out in small batches to the Shriners...
When others press me about that, I tell them that the National Treasure does indeed exist... We just forgot where we put it. Thus, Freemasons are continually looking for "that which was lost."
It makes for a good story, anyway...
That's what's done up here in Arkansaw... I was presented with my lambskin upon being initiated as an EA, and told to "hang onto it..." Still being very much a noob, I've only worn it for my degree conferrals, and once when out visiting for another EA degree.
Mine stays put away (flat) in a...
Think back to your proficiency/lecture for your degree... There's a question somewheres toward the front end, "What makes ..."
Your answer's right there.
Greetings Brothers...
I am a new forum member hailing from the wilds of Arkansaw... I received my EA in February, my FC this month, and will be turning in for my MM probably around the first or middle of this coming month.
Looks to be a wonderful reference here with our Texan brothers...
