    Conspiracy theories

Asking a mason to prove there is no conspiracy via documentation is like asking a man who has never broken the law to provide you with proof via documentation. Can you go to the police station and get documentation that you are a law abiding citizen? When was the last police report made for...

Why do people leave/ become inactive?

I asked to be on the ritual and advisory board for this year. We discuss more on the porch of the lodge after a meeting than we do during a meeting. The more I speak about masonry outside of lodge the more I discover that it is not about putting on an apron and sitting in a room. It is about...

    What is a catechism

We use the term proficiency here as well. I only heard of it being called a catechism since reading this and other forums. The first EA degree I witnessed from the sidelines had our Jr Steward give the apron presentation. He is originally from New York so he had to relearn it.

    What is a catechism

And the interesting thing about Masonry is that each jurisdiction has their own variation on the dialog. It is very rare to see one state have the same catechism as another. It must be loads of fun for Masons who relocate and want to go through the chairs in a lodge in another jurisdiction...

    Golden Dawn

Never heard of them. All I could think of was Hans Gruber in Die Hard but that was Asian Dawn, not Golden Dawn!

    Infectious negative energy

I'll check it out. Maybe I'll swing by for the installation this upcoming saturday night if I can swing it with the wife. I hail from Mariners so we're pretty close by each other.

    Feeling offended

I was just wondering if your boss wears any masonic pins at work. We all know there are a lot of misinformed people out there. People who are otherwise everyday normal people. I would just act as I was instructed in my EA degree. Be cautious while on the job when dealing with the public.

    Feeling offended

I wear my ring at work but I am not dealing with the public. I however do not wear my ring when I work in the field if I so happen to be outside that day. If the client saw you on your personal time then there is not much you can do about that. However I do have one question. Is your boss the...

    Feeling offended

Having this happen on your personal time is one thing but in the transaction of business is another. I would not be wearing masonic regalia if you are the face of your business or publicly represent the company you work for. Save the ring for personal time/lodge time this way you don't have to...

    Masculinity and Freemasonry

I did not listen to the article but I read the thread title and the first thing that came to mind was a lifted f-350 with the S/C on each brake light, Masonic license plates, Skull and Bones across the back window driven by man with a masonic belt buckle, a masonic camo baseball cap, two rings...

    Infectious negative energy

Is it my job as a mason to essentially blackball a person before he afforded a proper investigation or blackball him after his investigation even if found favorable? What kind of work does he do? Is he "at the same pay grade" as you? Is his job something that can provide for a family? A man...

    Fundrasing ideas?

The best fundraisers are those fundraisers which do not cost the lodge any money (directly) We have a business that is friendly with the lodge and donates some of the proceeds if the customer mentions our lodge when services are rendered. It doesn't take money out of the public's pocket because...

questions brothers ask and answer in public?

I think it is fun to use the "hey hiram" or similar sayings. A true mason will not try to gain the secrets of Masonry from another on the street. If you encounter someone who approaches you as a mason and tries to get you to acknowledge them masonically they are most likely clandestine. I had a...

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

Re: What would you like to see changed in the Maso ...within the length of your cabletow. We each join for our own reasons. Just as we do not recruit, we need the men to seek out a task for themselves. I myself asked to be on the ritual and progression committee. I will agree though that not a...

    Traditional observance

I like the ability to have fun while in lodge but I love tight degree work. Visitors come to your lodge to see degrees and sometimes it can be embarrassing to have shoddy work. Not so much for the lodge but for the candidate. Granted the candidate will not know any difference if the degree...

    Masonic Tattoo

I agree. Emblems =/= Symbols. Everyone has seen our working tools in the operative sense. To think otherwise is foolish. It is the speculative meanings we have to be weary of. You can put what you want on your body so long as you do not spell out what the symbols mean. IE get a Square on your...
