    Sufism, Rumi and freemasonry

Rumi's a great poet, filled with plenty of wisdom.

    Steps removed

NM's is fairly long, though the dewdrop portion isn't part of it, even in the older monitors I've read.

    Dinner tomorrow

The head of Google wanting all humans to be "enhanced" is far more "world domination" than anything we've come up with.

    Free Will

So, no matter what you "choose" to do tomorrow morning, it was "fated" to happen? If you go to work, if you don't go to work? It was never your choice? I can't live that way. I can choose to follow my obligations, and obey the laws of my town/state/country, and believe it's the best choice, or I...

    What's for dinner?

In my NM lodges, dinner is always open to family and guests. After dinner, the Brethren go open lodge and the families go home, or some of the spouses go out together. My CA lodge does it differently, but the others in the area seem to follow that form, as well.

    It is all our fault

Yeah, it was a joke. Masons being blamed, as usual.

    Free Will

Most of the "crushing weight" you describe disappears when you turn off the TV. Sure, there are still people wanting you to choose their way, but you always have an option. There is no magical force stopping you from picking A over B.

    It is all our fault

    He did...

    Free Will

My obligations to my family, country, Deity, or fraternity do not remove my free will, they keep it within due bounds.

Visitation Between Prince Hall and Regular Lodges

Hopefully that will change one day soon. There are so few states left like yours, so much Brotherhood to be shared.

Can a woman be a Freemason?

It is considered clandestine by all regular Masons.

Visitation Between Prince Hall and Regular Lodges

Perhaps in your jurisdiction, but not in the majority if US. In both NM and CA (for example), members of the two Grand Lodges may intervisit. I have sat in lodge with the Grand Master of MWPHGLNM on several occasions. Neither of us considered the other to be clandestine.

    God v Science

Four for me... (we should take this elsewhere if you want to continue the discussion).

    Man who would be king

It's based on a tale written by Brother Rudyard Kipling.

Can a woman be a Freemason?

Umm, the word "spouse" implies that you ARE married. Your best bet is to check with the local OES Chapter. Rules vary by jurisdiction.

    FELLOW CRAFT LECTURE

It's difficult to discuss too much here, but yes, it was a very moving Degree that sent many of us "back to school."

    To become one, Ask one

The first step is to stop reading, you don't want to learn too much prior to joining. The next step, as others have said, is to visit a lodge, meet the Brethren, and petition.

    Slide Show During the Lectures

The lodge is an oblong square, so I always assumed that was the reasoning behind the shape of the Ashlars.
  19. B

How far apart are you lodges?

In NM, towns are generally at least 60 miles apart... so are lodges. A traveling Grand Officer can expect to put tens of thousands of miles on his vehicle each year, just visiting lodges.

The Age Old Question: Is Freemasonry A Religion?

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."
