In born in blood the author refers to this as part of our initiation that has been lost in antiquity at lest the meaning of y could any brother shine some light as to some historical references I'm doing research for my lodge S M I B

As I understand it Born in Blood isn't that accurate and I wouldn't put to much stock into it. But just in case there is something to the "dress as a heretic" could you be more descriptive in what he says this looks like and where it comes from? If it refers to the preparation of a candidate then there are reasons for that.

Yes it does the placement of cable tow and such ( dont want to go into to much detail cowans and easdropers )

Robinson offered next to nothing in support of that stuff. Somebody somewhere told him something about how heretics dressed...only snobs use footnotes.
