Can anyone provide tell me the lineage of how the GLoT is tied to the UGLE, making it "regular"? I mean, I know that we got our dispensation and everything to start Masonry in Texas from the GL of Louisiana, but where does it go from there going backwards? I'm wanting to connect the dots all the way up to UGLE, if possible, and also include if we were part of the "Antients" or "Moderns" when they finally pulled everything together long ago. I'll take any information you got, but any kind of source laying this out would be much appreciated as well.

Also, looking for the same thing for the PHA side of the house as well.

    Thanks, Brothers.

I believe Pete Normand wrote a paper on this. It may have been the paper he delivered when he received his Fellow of TLR.

Well, the article/history I found is very lengthy so here is the link.It was a bit difficult to follow but maybe it's just me. Seems like the short version is that we(TX) were chartered by the GL of Louisiana and the GL of Louisiana was chartered by the GL of New York & South Carolina which eventually merged into one GL in Louisiana. Please let me know what you find because now you have got me interested. Grand Lodge of Louisiana - Lodge 89

Holland Lodge #1 (where I'll be tonight) got its dispensation in 1835. Since the two main Grand Lodges in Louisiana merged in 1850, I suppose the question would be, from which Grand Lodge did Holland gain that dispensation?

You'd think AF&AM were the ancients and F&AM the antients, but if it made that much sense the conspiracy nuts couldn't get trapped in one of their funny recursive loops.

Sup Brother. You know I can get that specific info for you, but as always, I like to make sure my offerings are accurate as well as beneficial. Give me a little time to get my info together, and I will send you as concise an offering as possible regarding the lineage and connection of PHA to the UGLE, and the MWPHGLoTx to our original Charter obtained by Prince Hall himself. Long and short---Prince Hall received his Charter Sept 29, 1784 from the Premier Grand Lodge of England. The MWPHGLoTx received its dispensation from the Prince Hall GL of Kansas in 1873, and Charter in 1878. Prince Hall GL of Kansas rec'd theirs from the Prince Hall GL of Ohio. Ohio was one of the more influential States in PHA Masonry, in that they helped establish PHA Masonry in States west of the Allegheny Mountains, as well as the South. As soon as I can get specific dates for all of this for you, I wil submit these as well. Fraternally, Bro Jones

Do you know know the title of the paper that you are referring to? And also how to get access to or find it?

Thanks for that, Bro. Kyle. I actually had no idea that there were two different Grand Lodges at one time in Louisiana. Does bring up the question that Bro. Hatley asked.... Which one of those gave us the dispensation to start Masonry in Texas?

That is a really qood question. I'm hoping that Bro. Frater Porter will eventually see this thread and chime in on it. He seems to be pretty knowledgable on things like this.

What's up, Brother? Hope everything is going well with you. Yea, I do appreciate that bit of info you pushed out so far, and would be really grateful for anything that you can come up with going deeper into things. Especially with dates and all that kind of stuff. I look forward to seeing what you post up about it. Thanks a lot!

Normand, Pierre G "Pete" (2004) "The Pedigree of the Grand Lodge of Texas A.F. & A.M." Transactions. Texas Lodge of Research, v. 38, p.67-78.

Summary: Grand Lodge of Texas A.F.& A.M -> Grand Lodge of Louisiana A.Y.M -> Grand Lodge of South Carolina A.Y.M -> Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania -> Ancient Provisional Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania -> Ancient Grand Lodge of England "organized on Wednesday 17 July 1751 by five Lodges of Freemasons, predominant number of them being Irishmen, at a General Assembly held at the well-known Turk's Head Tavern, No. 9 Creek Street, Soho, a London neighborhood."
