After 29 years behind the wheel and 15 years being married to a wonderfully understanding woman it will be nice to be home and able to participate in all that entails.
Congratulations! I am willing to wager that the value of being home every night will outweigh the pay cut in the grand scheme of things.
Then again, when my cousin was about to retire after a 30 year career in the fire service (where the shifts were 24 on/48 off), his wife had become noticeably sullen as the day approached. Picking up on this, he asked, "Honey, what's wrong?" Her answer? "I don't know what I'm going to do with you around all the time. I kind of liked having that time to myself." Thinking quickly, he replied, "Oh Honey. Don't worry. I'm going fishing on those days." The moral of the story, just be prepared for some "adjustments".
