Its total separation between blk and white masons here, you have to be here to experience it.

I was raised in Colorado and I'm a also an infantryman in the army , black and white was never an issue. I look at the character of a man not his color.

How unfortunate! I have to be honest here, i haven't been a mason for more than a year and hearing what you say about segregation makes me cringe! I didnt even know there was such a thing as PHA masons until just a few weeks ago when i downloaded this app for my phone. I suppose with me being Canadian, when i heard of the PHA it didn't make any sense to me? Here, in my personal experience, a mason is a mason - a brother is a brother... there is no distinction. But after reading several posts and learning the history i do understand why PHA exists and i can respect that.
I guess the only thing i can say to you, and i hope it rings true is; BROTHER, don't let a few bad apples spoil the basket, and don't let a few bad spots spoil the apple.

I guess it's going to be that way until the older guys finally die off.

I would say find out if in fact that lodge is chaptered by the grand lodge of the state. Most likely not. I'm willing to bet on it. As for the difference between the 2 types of lodges ie Scottish or York neither discriminate. Sorry to here about your experience and I hope your endeavors into masonry are as beautiful as they have been for me.

I have heard about this happening and it grieves me terribly -- but I want you to know that this is widely regarded as unmasonic in most places.

If they don't accept you because they are bigots, they don't deserve you. If the bigotry becomes a demonstrable pattern, it needs to be reported to the GL. If this sort if bigotry is wide spread and, after investigation, it appears that the GL is not proactive in fighting bigotry, they should be warned that there is some danger that amity will be withdrawn by other jurisdictions.

But in fairness, we need to remember that one bigot can nix a candidate. The whole system can't be blamed for the prejudice of one creep -- but they need to be seen as undertaking corrective action and serious Masonic education. Race prejudice had no place in the lodge.
