It's true... The Civil War just isn't that big of a deal in the North. Growing up, I never really gave it much attention. We talked about it in school. "The South broke away from the Union because they didn't want to free the slaves." Years later, with a B.A. in Military History, I know THAT is not correct.

When I started living in the South in 2001, I was amazed by the encyclopedic knowledge Southerners have about the War of Northern Aggression.

I just chalk it up to being sore losers. HA! :30:

Interesting that it made the news. I didn't realize it was so unacknowledged in the North. It's a period of history I find fascinating culturally, though its not a period of history I'm terribly well versed in.
