Tonight I will be going to the local lodge to meet some of the guys. I have been watch some of the feeds here and learning and I am very grateful to all of you for your knowledge. How do you guys feel about someone petitioning who is a truck driver. I am gone anywhere from 3-6 days with 2-4 days off. May days off are very random but I can request days off and my supervisor is real good about giving them to me. I guess what I am saying is it will be more work (scheduling )for me but not impossible or to difficult a task. How do you guys feel about someone like myself taking on this in devour?

Welcome to the forum and congradulations on taking the first step. As for being a truck driver, our WM is a truck driver. He sets his schedule to be at all stated meetings and most study sessions.

Thank you. I will talk to my Supervisor about seeing if possible to have every Tuesday off.

My grandfather was a trucker when he was initiated. He said that his schedule made it difficult to work with an instructor/mentor regularly at first. Eventually, he started driving with another co-worker cross-country who happened to be a brother, and through all that one-on-one time, he learned the catechism.

Thank you. I am with a regional company were we head out and come straight back. I also stay in motels every night. I think this will give me plenty of time to practice. Then when I am home I can go to practice at lodge.

Sounds like you've got a good plan, and I'm sure the brethren will appreciate the thoughtfulness you've put into it.

We have a Brother in our Lodge that works on oil refineries and his schedule is such that he was gone for 6-8 weeks at a time. He made it through the degrees no problem. It was it took a bit longer for him to turn in his lectures. You won't have a problem and the Lodge will work with you. Good luck on your journey.

I'm with the other brothers. Doesn't matter to me what a brothers job is at all. Of course in the earlier stages it can be nice to make sure that you can get to lodge regularly to meet people, learn the work etc. but don't let your schedule hold you back.
Find a lodge that fits you and that you fit well with and work will matter very little.
