Pardon my ignorance, but how exactly does 'healing' work?
In my jurisdiction, it involves submitting a Petition for membership into a lodge, having an interview with the lodge's investigation committee, having the lodge cast their vote and if found favorable, being invited to take all 3 obligations in a legal & constituted lodge.

So it is just as if you were joining a lodge for the first time and this is the healing? Makes sense.

Not exactly....they just have to take the obligations not the whole degrees
Here, we don't have a healing ceremony - if you've been initiated irregularly or clandestinely, you go through the whole degree(s) again. However its really rare, only know of it happening twice in my time and never in a lodge I am a member of. It's always been for men from other Countries..
