Re: Too Charitable?
I do not like that we use our charitable works as advertising. I think that masons should be charitable. But not necessarily the lodge, at least not to the degree we like to claim. If a mason heres of a need (say needy children needing coats or help with a dentist...
So, you are saying that the word arc should not be there. Just the word quadrant.
I mistakingly thought that you were suggesting that the word should be ark (with a k).
Isn't it refering to the "arc of a circle" that is at the bottom of the compasses (or at the bottom of both if the square is used)?
If so, then arc is correct.
I would like to see an orientation program up together for new Masons (EAs) on how to act and participate in lodge meetings. I feel like a lot of new brothers are nervous about certain things that kept them from being all they can be. Maybe I will develop a program for my lodge.
The only...
The good news here is that they voted not to close down any of the hospitals and to reopen Galveston. I hope folks that are this passionate about Shriner's Hospitals and the many families they have touched will step up financially and otherwise to help with fundraising to get Shriner's through...
Make sure to go to the detailed list. You get more of the "living" on that one, notably Brad Paisley.
I am a fan of westerns so I like seeing Glenn Ford, John Wayne and Roy Rogers among the ranks. Gene Autry made the detailed list.
Go with the traditional methods for traditional reasons (it is supposed to be mouth to ear). By the way, if its the nevada version you have (and probably any other) if different and the questions are in a somewhat different order, so I think it will only mess you up.
So mote it be! I think the decorated ones are cool and I am not opposed to decorated aprons. But when you consider what the lambskin represents, prefer white. Now, I saw one a while back that had a nice design, but with all white embroidery. I would like to have one with the symbol/S&C from...
The explanations of the working tools are also written in plain English in the GLOT monitor. We all know that the secrets are never to be written, so how can something be esoteric (secret) if the GL is printing it?
BTW, according to the Glossary in the Monitor, the word esoteric means "not...
As to the original post, if a brother wants to explore Esotericism that is his personal choice. But I think it is like unto other religious, political or cultural discussions that are intentionally left out. I believe that some of it is a stretch of the Blue degrees (although it may be more...
You can give those books to your wife or anyone else and let them read it, or read to them. Just the same, anything that is written in plain English in the Monitor can be shared.
I think a good feel of what is and what is not esoteric (in the sense of being private information between...
I don't personally believe that Masonry began a Christian fraternity, but I believe that it started (at least the origins of our rituals) in a country (England, France, Scotland - you pick based on your opinions) where Christianity was the predominant/state religion. So, in a time when a man's...
Some is a better word. Adam the founding man, if you will (i believe God is the founder) had only one wife that we know of, per the Bible. And I think, with further reading, we we can see that it caused problems for each of the prominent men you listed. The Bible clearly says that Solomon's...
