was it smart? no

was he exercising his rights? yes.

there was no problem, imo. if he were to even draw his weapon, he better have a damn good reason.

it's reminiscent of the "shot heard around the world."a

edit: you're going to post something along with your own thoughts? usually all we get is a link. i'm proud of you!

First of all Arizona allows for the open carry of weapons. Different places have different customs and traditions. One of the great things about states rights. The police were not worried from the different things I've read about these individuals. I happen to believe we should all carry weapons. But I'm a bit of a radical on that aspect of things and believe in determent's.

I think it was MSNBC who played the clip of a gentleman with an AR-15 at the event on loop and kept the picture on the back of the individual. One of the commentators tried to make it appear that this was a racist issue. Ironically the person they were talking about was a black gentleman who was adamant in keeping his freedoms and not loosing any of them. The media loves blowing things out of proportion just to create ratings.

As far as the guy protesting the gun laws... I wonder how much of this is self inflicted (no pun intended ok maybe a little). I mean I have stated that I voted for Obama because when I sit down I really did look at both cadidates read things about both Looked at the past two years of voting, read Obamas book and I felt he was the better candidate. One of the things I looked at was his stance on guns and he is, by party, a proponet to gun Laws however when you look at his gun laws in IL that he helped put into place that also has to do with that mindset in that State. They are not as open as we are just as we are not as open as AZ.

Obama has already said that he will NOT go after guns because he has bigger things to worry about. I honestly, and I am a NRA Member, believe it is an oportunity to get more people on board with the cause and they are doing a good job of it. I just don't see WHY everyone is so scared the Government is going to take your guns. I just wonder if it is the Gun Advocates creating some of the panic to help their cause?

Note: Saw nothing wrong with the guy and his gun. Oh and I will be buying my first home weapon this weekend. 12 ga Mosberg Enforcer with 18" Barrell and colapsable stock. The little lady wants something.

Ill just say not the brightest thing to carry a weapon near politicians... Its great in AZ, I get to wear my cowboy gear and my single actions... Nothing like the feeling of walking down the streets in Tombstone healed.

Good choice of home gun, easy to use too. May want to get her out shooting and while most will disagree, I think everyone should have to shoot at least a few rounds without ear protection. Many people that have never done so get very freaked out how loud it is when they have to use a gun and it can cause them to not follow up (if its needed). Also you dont need 00 buck for home defense! I just use a good birdshot. Just as effective at shorter ranges (like in a house) but wont go through to the neighbors house...
