have you done HRA?

Not yet, it's on my radar but I don't expect to be joining a Chapter any time soon. Circumstances (read: my wife) simply won't allow the extra commitment at the moment.

I joined Mark rather than Chapter because my Father-in-Law is a member.

Good reason. My chapter in Cheshire only meets three times a year, so fairly light duty, though learning a third RA ritual has been taxing.

I sometimes find the pressure from province and grand lodge to join the royal arch puts me off.

At our last craft meeting, our new APGM came on an official visit. At the festive board he mentioned the upcoming 150th anniversary of Provincial Grand Chapter, and the desire to exalt 150 new companions before 2019. As a result of this our Royal Arch Contact Officer is feeling the pressure to try and recruit us younger brethren and I don't feel entirely comfortable with that.

Same lecture the other night.

I support the goal not just because I’m a PGO, but because HRA really is important in rounding out the Hiramic legend. I particularly like our chapter ‘s ritual. It also provides a chance to meet other Masons. My lodge is in Stockport, but my chapter is in Sandbach.

OTOH, the principals’ robes are just too warm with modern heating.

Necroposting on my own thread but it seemed the most appropriate place...

After almost two years since I was first proposed (stupid COVID getting in the way), tonight I should be elevated into the Royal Ark Mariners Lodge moored to my Mark lodge. I'm really looking forward to the ceremony and it should be special as my Father-in-Law is currently Worshipful Commander of the lodge.

It will be a busy night as we'll be advancing a brother into the Mark degree at the Mark lodge held immediately after RAM, in which I'm the JD and also doing the working tools, and we also have an official visit from our new APGM.

All in all it should be a great night of masonry!

Enjoy ! I am not in RAM - but several of my friends who are say it is there favourite Degree. It certainly has an interesting history.. many claim it as the oldest Masonic Ritual..

It was a really lovely ceremony, well carried out by my father in law and the rest of the brethren. Sadly, the APGM was unable to attend but he arranged for the DPGM to visit instead.

To top it all off, two days later I attended the Provincial RAM Assembly as the province's newest Royal Ark Mariner!
