I finally got established here at my new assignment (in Florida). I contacted the Lodge I had been corresponding with since before we arrived; and so far it's smooth sailing. The Worshipful Master contacted me soon after and welcomed me to meet with him and another brother on Wednesday to start the petition process. Around here they really go out of their way to make those in the military feel welcome. I also just found out that one of my dear friends that I've known since I was a student here years ago is a Past Master of this Lodge.

Stay in touch. Fair winds and following seas along the way. In the words of James Delaney Buffett III, happy Floridays!

I was privileged to visit a couple of lodges in the Cape Canaveral area. Also, in 2009, I visited lodges in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. Florida does masonry right! I wish you every possible success! Please see if you can determine if Florida has Masonic vehicle license plates. The DMV was in the process of getting final approval, back in 2009.

Petition submitted... now it's just a matter of waiting. The idea of the investigative committee doesn't worry me; but the idea of surviving a clean vote from an entire lodge of gentlemen (most of whom I have not met) worries me quite a bit. My two signers were the Worshipful Master and his son. One of the Lodge's Past Masters is a really good friend.... but still.

No worries my friend, the ones that you really need to impress IS that of the Investigative Committee. As long as their evaluation is Positive, you should have no trouble getting the needed vote behind the closed door.
