Thank God For Masonry

Gentlemen, as many of you know, I've only recently been entered. However, along with beginning my memory work, I also am a full-time student, in search of a job that fits my schedule. I regularly work out and have a long-time girlfriend. All of these demand much time and attention from me. I'm no self-pitying, woe is me type... This is the case for most of us. Sometimes, it seems like there just isn't enough hours in the day, and days in the week. Thankfully, I have Masonry to "retreat." Mind you, I'm active at the Lodge and am aggressively learning the memory work, but when the time rolls around to head up to the Lodge and spend time with my brethren, I embrace it, wholeheartedly. Having been so short a time since I was made a mason, I'm quickly learning some of the things that make it so wonderful, at least for me. Thank God for Masonry. What about yall? What are Masonry's "beauties" for you?

Very good question brother, for me the principle tenets; Brotherly love, relief and truth. These not only sound good they are when applied by each of use a Masons. In a world where the very morels is declining so rapleadly it is refreshing to be around a group of men that you can depend on for, and I repeat; Brotherly love, relief and truth.

I thank God for the fraternity because it gets me involved with a group of men that all want to make a difference in this world. My Dad was raised at the Masonic Home and I have always appreciated what the fraternity has done for him and my family. He lost his dad when he was 9 but you would never know that thanks to the Masons of Texas. He had other men step up in his live and be that influence.

I too am thankful for the Fraternity. I've met many Brothers in real life and online who I would of never had the opportunity under normal circumstances. There are members of my Lodge who I've grown closer to because of Masonry. The explanation of the Trowel during the Masters rings true.

I am most thankful for our fraternity because to me we symbolize and represent all of the good things that humanity has to offer. Now that might be a bit of a brash statement , but let me explain myself a little here. When I say that we represent all of the good things that humanity has to offer I am referring to our principal tenants. Masonry to me brothers means that we hold ourselves to a higher standard than most which helps reinforce what one of our lodges past masters once told me "We take a good man and make him better..." I believe that since we do hold and expect the best of ourselves and our brothers it helps us by letting our lives be examples for the future.
I know that I am only a year into masonry and yet I still feel like I learn every day and try to do my best to live up to the standards that we hold ourselves up to.
On a more personal note, I can look at my grandfathers ring every morning when I put it on and it reminds me of the man that I knew hew was even thought I didn't get the chance ot meet him. I try to think of what he would do in his daily life and do my best to try to hold up to that image, even though I know I fall short all the time. Which means, that I just have to strive harder to live up to being a better man.
