Received the Scottish Rite degrees

I received the Scottish Rite degrees in the Valley of Houston at Holland #1 this weekend. I had a great time. I had meant to do it last year but scheduling didn't work out. I should have done this many years ago!

All you Houston Valley boys look me up at stated meetings or reunions. I get lonely in the Wardrobe room.

The name's Jim ... Jim Hoffpauir

I was there this last Saturday getting my degrees on too, I sat in the front right and made a few wisecracks - though not up to my usual number, being new and all :)

Jim, if you work in wardrobe you must know Norm Bates? He was the man who prepared me to be a mason and a particular friend of mine. We'll wind up seeing each other for sure.

I was there Saturday with a few of my other brothers from Gray Lodge. Enjoyed getting more light. Everyone put on a great performance.

PS. I hope you run some of those outfits through the wash. I know I was a ball of sweat going through the final degree that afternoon in the white surcoat and cape.

Hah - that was you? Small world indeed brethren. I hear some of the fellas at the Rite head to Downing St on Kirby sometimes after the stateds, or there is a hipster pub across the street with some interesting things on tap.

Brother Mike ... yes I know Brother Bates. You are indeed blessed to have such friends!

Bro Smartrod ... I was told that the Valley is going to spring for new wardrobes once in the new building. How many, I don't know. How soon, I don't know. Until then I suspect we'll go with the old standby hang-and-drip method of cleaning.

Everyone is a-buzz about the new building. One thing folks are pointing to is being able to use the stage props again. I took my degrees in Galveston courtesy of the Galveston Valley. Their stage props are fantastic and their temple is beautiful.

Since wardrobe room work is fairly involved I have been working the 9th and 10th degrees on stage in Galveston. Gives me a chance to screw up a line now and again. I look forward to meeting each of you at stated meetings (4th Thursday night) and sharing good times at the coming reunions.

:eek:hmy:

One thing I'm going to miss about the reunions at Holland 1 is loading and unloading that rent truck and following it across town to re-store everything in the warehouse. Man, there's just no better fun after a long, long reunion. :sneaky2:

Brother Vick.

YOU, my dear brother, will surely enjoy the work ahead. The only bummer is the wait between the time you finish, send it in, and get your next packet. I usually completed them within a couple of days and then started the painful process of waiting all over again.

One thing you will surely enjoy is the comments brethren in Washington make on your discussion questions. There's light to be had if you read closely enough. Judging from your posts over the last year or so, I suspect they will read you answers with much interest. Good to have you in the SCCR. Good to have you indeed.

I guarantee you MY robe dripped after they hung it!
