Now that supplied my laugh for the day. I was trying to wake up enough to watch the implosion of the old Cowboy stadium on TV. Reading your comment and then laughing did the trick.

That quote is around 100 years old and still describes Congress.

It's very witty, as always from Twain, but I think he's wrong. I don't think there's anything distinctly American about having a government full of crooks: most everyone else is also governed by crooks!
