The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

Good question. I do not know the answer. You should check out the Facebook page of the Imperial Potentate. His name is Severe. You can ask him directly.

    fellow Mason Chefs

My brother in law, is in the food service industry. You should check out the CIA, The Culinary Institute of America. Their graduates are the best in the industry. You can also check at your local state employment office, they can assist you in finding a culinary school, and also in arranging for...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

I can't predict the future. In spite of the twin disasters, there may be some good come out of this. The fact that we are discussing our problems, openly, is good. Before the internet, this kind of crap would all be handled behind closed doors. There may some new insights provided, and Grand...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

I have received several documents from the Imperial Potentate, and the Grand Masters of Arkansas and Michigan. If you send me a PM, with your email address, I can send you the documents. This is an interesting situation. "May you live in interesting times" - Old Chinese Curse

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

Here is the "draft" response from the Imperial Potentate. For background: The individual held memberships in two (2) lodge, one in Arkansas, and one in Iowa. The Grand Master of Arkansas had the man expelled from Arkansas Masonry. The Grand Lodge of Iowa refused to accept the expulsion, and kept...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

These situations make me very sad. This is a lose-lose-lose for all concerned. The fact that the two individuals who are at the center of this, are both potentates! The public relations aspect is a disaster. I hope that there are men of good will, who can work towards a solution, and be able to...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

The Arkansas ban is total. No Arkansas Mason can wear any Shrine lapel pins or shrine rings. All references to the Shrine must be removed from Masonic buildings. Photos with Masons wearing Shrine identification must be taken down. No Masonic building can be used for any Shrine function, etc...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

There was an incident some years ago. But, the current situation is new. The Shrine has also been declared "un-Masonic" in Michigan.

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

This is the "real deal". The Grand Lodge of Arkansas has now de-recognized the Shrine in Arkansas. If an Arkansas Mason attends a Shrine function in Arkansas, he will be expelled from Freemasonry. See: http://www.ezdvd.com/ARGMSHRINE.pdf

For my more seasoned brothers----What would you say?

I am always delighted to talk anyone's ears right off about Freemasonry. We are NOT a secret society, how many secret societies have official vehicle license plates? I always carry some of the "fact cards" about Masonry, and if anyone is interested, I give them one. There are plenty of websites...

    Answer these two things

There are lots of things I like about Freemasonry. The best is the worldwide fellowship. I do a lot of international work, and I have been privileged to visit lodges in many foreign countries. Not all Masons have this opportunity, but it is part of the wages of a Master Mason. There are, sadly...

    What Books Would You Recomend

"The Complete Idiot's guide to Freemasonry" and "Freemasonry for Dummies". Both provide an excellent "cliff's notes" version of the Craft and the appendant bodies.

What Masonic traditions can we bring back?

We can provide advice and guidance to Masons (and dependents and the general public) by offering classes and counseling, in how to prepare resumes, and how to use the internet for job searching. Many non-profits offer advice and assistance to unemployed people. With the unemployment rate so...

What Masonic traditions can we bring back?

I used to work for the US Census Bureau in statistical data collection. As the WW2 generation ages, the average age of Masons in the USA will increase. As these men pass on, the average age of Masons will begin to decline. I went to a lodge meeting last week in Arizona. I am 57, and I was about...

What Masonic traditions can we bring back?

I am 1000% in favor of all Masons keeping their obligations. And I wish we had more than a passing concern for the welfare of our members (and their families). Now that our average age is creeping up, we are going to be having an increase in our Masonic widows. Traditionally, Lodges provided...

What Masonic traditions can we bring back?

We have a "calendar" on the web, to keep track of activities, etc. But web page or facebook page is not going to happen. I still believe that Freemasons can learn from the past, and we could revive some of our splendid traditions and practices. 21st century Masonry is not your father's...
