    Texas aprons

I wear my PM apron from a previous state at most meetings. The size difference is not always noticed. At some point I'll go through the line again and increase the size of my PM apron collection.

How Dark Were the Dark Ages?

The dark ages were before the light bulb was invented. Pretty dark to anyone who grew up with light bulbs so everyone on the planet nowadays. ;^)

    Learning Latin

The only song in Latin I ever learned was in German class. "Gaudeamus Igatur" is a Latin drinking song that roughly translates to "In Heaven there is no beer, that's why we drink it here".

    Learning Latin

http://www.thegreatcourses.com/courses/latin-101-learning-a-classical-language.html I've done a few Great Courses products and they are all good. Or as Latin is mostly a written language rarely used spoken outside of churches go to the library and ask a librarians to point you to a book on...

What is a lodge of research?

You should get one proceedings issue per year you are a member. Ping them to make sure they have your address right. I bought a lifetime membership the first time I attended and I've gotten my package annually since then.

Welcome again, and again, to the family thrice adopted brother.

    Brother Adolphus Greenlee

There is enough material in the first 3 degrees to last a lifetime so there is no need to go further. Further is nice not important. Some suggest waiting at least a year. I went through the line before petitioning my first appendent body so I suggest waiting more like 5 years. We're brothers...

    Many Degrees vs. 3

It's nice to have a mix of some individual degrees plus some group degrees because some candidates prefer it each way. Tastes vary and it is about what the new guy wants not about what the old guys want him to want. When a brother failed to show up for his individual degree then showed up at...

    Women Freemasons

Neither is teaching women to be women. Both are needed in our society even though, maybe even especially because, both roles are evolving rapidly. Other than Masonry, teaching role models have been ceded to families with societal evolution happening too fast for most to react plus sports that...

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

It is very ill advised to read the word "seek" and immediately jump to the unlikely meaning of "electioneering". That's assuming the worst of pretty much everyone.

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

A number of active lodges have full lines and a waiting list. If you don't inform the WM you don't get put on the waiting list. A number of less active lodges have troubles filling their line. One of the duties of the SW in such a lodge is to work with the other pedestal officers approaching...

    New Bot posts philosophical question

What's the apparent disparity? I don't get it. We adopt men of all faiths into our family end of report. That lesson about agreeing doesn't apply in anything like that sense. What we agree on is the existence of a supreme deity not the details of how each of use see him. We don't even have...

    Elks club

I have ended up at the Elks bar with brothers as a social after lodge. I have ended up at the Legion bar with brothers as a social after lodge. When I was considering which fraternity to join the fact that Masonic lodges did not have a liquor license was on my list of advantages. I still...

    Adults/Kids With ADD/ADHD

Because treatment with non-stimulants, which are stimulants to the majority, works well for many. I suggest that folks non-stimulants don't work for have something with a different cause but the same symptoms. In my old choppily written post I mentioned near the end how caffeine can be used to...

How often do you visit other lodges

I attend some other lodge more months than not. My goal is to visit often enough to get the SD to forget that I'm not a member so he forgets to introduce me because he's seen me often enough to think I'm a member.

    PHA recognition

Why any jurisdiction would add that extra step is beyond my ken. Either the vote attempts to take the moral high road or it does not. Either the vote passes or it fails. I suppose I am less worried about a failed vote than some - When California went through the process I looked back and it...
