I would ask are you a mason then what lodge are you a member of , that will usually let me know if I need to further intercourse with you masonicly or be off the subject, its certainly not offensive in my opinion to simply ask A suspected brother are you a Mason
No it's a one time fee of 100$ once duly elected as a member you have full rights and privileges as a member of African Lodge No.459 under there Constitution and bylaws this membership is enforced until you are no longer a member of a duly constituted regular Prince Hall Affiliated lodge

Just be honest freemasonry only requires you believe in a deity and the hope of resurrection don't be ashamed of what you believe in be upfront and honest if they don't respect that that's not the right lodge for you , Brother I hope you find all the liGht you seek in masonry and may GOD's...
From what I was told you should inform the secretary of the lodge in which you attend , he will then go through the proper channels to inform the neighboring lodge of your wishes to visit this might be different in different jurisdictions I would suggest, consulting your W.M. on this matter
Brother i would suggest reading it from cover to cover and further investigating" anything" that particularly strikes your attention along the way . I have discovered in doing so will reveal much more liGht , I was told the ritual is only a guide and that one must also search elsewhere...
