The Age Old Question: Is Freemasonry A Religion?

There are people who practice their religions philosophically and those who practice their philosophies religiously. There are men within the ranks of the Freemasonic Organization who are no exception to these practices in any way. Because of whom they are, each of them will take Freemasonry...

Is Operative Freemasonry compatible with Speculative Freemasonry?

Great Topic and Questions! Here's an article that I wrote on the subject many months ago that might provide some provoked thoughts and possibly some fun discourse. http://buildinghiram.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-coaches-coach-drawing-distinctions.html (Operative and Speculative) Enjoy! Coach Nagy

A brother but should he be?

He is not. I learned early on that there are "members" and there are "Brothers". I no longer confuse the two. Why do you listen? Accept this and move on. Respond with "That's truly great that you can get the work done by someone else! You know whom to hire for your job..." and move on. He...

    Masonic Ten Commandments

Wow! Awesome repackaging of the top ten. Reminds me of how Jesus restated them positively with just two rather than two positive and eight negative. ( I wonder how many Brothers noticed!) Thanks.

The Great Book of Nature and Revelation

Very important, especially if you do the Work. It's the focus of the second degree studies.

No. We are asked to be tolerant. It is still a choice though. At least, at this point in time. Furthermore, we should exercise tolerance discriminately, just as other options such as "Acceptance; Resistance; Rejection".

Do you believe in Darwinian evolution?

Magnitude my Brother. Magnitude. As much as is claimed to be known, and claimed to be understood, what is known and understood are drops in the ocean compared to the whole of Creation. This can be said about both sides of the argument. I am not suggesting this. I am stating it without full...

Do you believe in Darwinian evolution?

I do not believe one has to embrace a label in total to embrace aspects of truth that any one philosophy (or faith) espouses. Finding fault or flaws within each should not dismiss any truth that each conveyed overall. As implied before, the lens of black and white thinking tends to promote...

Do you believe in Darwinian evolution?

I can see this being a label that would be thrown into the ring when this situation is viewed through the lens of a black and white thinker. However, those individuals who can see truth in their chosen faith and also in aspects of what evolutionary thought promotes have no problem reconciling...

    Ancient or Modern?

The point of Ritual is to introduce men to thinking differently about how they think normally. The point of Ritual's archaic language is to jar those who can be jarred into thinking about looking into the meaning of words as they change with time. The point of Ritual is to let men know that...

    Explaining the "higher" degrees.

BTW - If you truly understood all the titles (there are at least three) that you received during your third Degree, you would also understand that you are indeed considered a "doctor". The root of the word "doctor" it "teacher" and is synonymous with at least two of those three titles.

    Explaining the "higher" degrees.

From everything that I've heard about any degree offered after the first three, they fall into the category of CFEs (Continuing Freemasonic Education). Which is exactly what you would expect once you graduated from the Blue Lodge.

    Explaining the "higher" degrees.

The EA Degree provides a roadmap for Inward Travels. It provides a guide to the inner Terrain that, when Traveled, enables a man to know his true self and true nature -- The Creature that is himself. The Work it directs him to is Foundational to his Learning. In this respect, it is a roadmap...

    Incense in the lodge

You might want to ask the candidate and other Brothers if introducing an air-born element might present a heath challenge to any of them. I for one belong to a smoke free Lodge for a reason. As much as I truly like the nostalgic aspect of including incense, I would be incensed if it were...
