Re: Gay and Bi Brother Masons
I ask myself how I act and react with regard to tolerance. I ask myself what tolerance is and what tolerance is not.
For me - I try to always start out acting in tolerance. I try to return tolerance with tolerance. I try to return intolerance with slightly...
This is like the words "hoggie" and "submarine sandwich". They mean something that's interchangeable but they don't mean "hot dog". If someone asks for a hoggie or submarine and you hand them a hot dog they will likely think you didn't hear correctly. Try explaining that's what they are...
Some PHA jurisdictions have a single affiliation rule - They only allow a brother to be a member of exactly one craft lodge. In Texas I have learned that I should be able to ask for "associate membership" to get around this issue. Sounds to me like a technicality to get around their single...
Time and patience will accomplish all things. We are mortal and there is always a previous generation dying of old age and disappearing.
Something I find more puzzling is Arkansas. It is reported that Arkansas offered recognition but Arkansas PHA turned them down. I wonder what the deal on...
Re: Gay and Bi Brother Masons
Just to check - Folks are aware that you can't tell unless you're told, right? There's no such thing as a "gaydar" that works. Somewhere in the range of 1-10% of the population aren't straight and anyone not told doesn't know which 1-10% of the people who they...
To my knowledge all US lodges have standard work that is mandated by all members lodges with varying degrees of strictness. There's an Oklahoma degree team that travels the country doing exhibition degrees. It's common for the GM of California or Illinois to grant dispensation for them to...
It gives ***** ***** ***** which I promised to keep secret so unless we've sat in lodge together or traded dues cards I won't help you locate a copy.
There's a thread "I've been studying" that is partially about it. Bad idea to use it to memorize from because of variation from jurisdiction to...

There seem to be an assortment of lodges in Lebanon. They will likely need to get to know you well before giving you a petition to become a Mason so start showing up every month to spend time with the brothers.
Either regular GL in DC would be good. I suggest you show up to a few near you, meet the brothers, then decide. Showing up in person before the monthly meeting is the best way to become a Mason so go ahead and do that to decide among the lodges near you as well...
I've never been interested in most of the graphical games. I still occasionally play Nethack 3.4. It is map oriented and the parent of nearly all first person shooter games. Instead of putting effort into the graphics the developers put effort into game play and complexity. After all these...
Some jurisdictions used to require a brother be an MM for a year before they could be invited to join appendant bodies. I like this idea because it's very easy to join group after groups in your enthusiasm and end up spread too thin.
I entered the line immediately on being raised so I waited...
Everyone reading understood your post. Here's a terminology nit -
If you were the candidate you received the degree. If you obligated a candidate you conferred the degree.
Many lodges present a brother with his apron after raising. That's because the dates of your degrees are written on it. Mine are written inside the bib and I think that's the most common.
There are lodges that give you the apron when you are initiated but what happens if you forget to bring...
There are ways to try a man on his Masonic membership without checking dues cards or exchanging modes of recognition. Just chat about what you've been doing at lodge. A cowan may have a fake dues card and may have learned the modes of recognition from an expose' book but there's no substitute...
I've never seen an EA rings (yet) but I have seen an EA lapel pin. It's okay to wear in at least Illinois - Only wear symbols of the degrees you are qualified for.
It is interesting that some jurisdictions don't allow that.

Bahamas is run as a provence of the United Grand Lodge of England.
In general find a lodge near you, find out when they meet monthly, show up in person about an hour before the meeting, introduce yourself and ask how to become a Mason. Continue showing up...
I've read a report of someone who memorized a large amount of ritual out of an expose' book before being initiated and then was frustrated that it's harder to memorize a second version than it is the first version. Having memorized most of the ritual in two jurisdictions while going through the...
Nearly every religion discusses spirits so you'll be able to find references. Whether you'll be able to find discussion of possession I can't say. When I read the Koran it mentions the Djinn. I am currently reading a collection of legends about Buddha and there is plenty of discussion of...
