In Kentucky, the Grand Lodge of Kentucky gets a $7 rebate on every tag sold. You are supposed to be Master Mason in good standing, in order to purchase the plates. However, the clerks up in Bug Hollow KY, probably don't know what a dues card is, and would not be able to tell a Master Mason, from...
The Grand Lodge of Oklahoma has a "college liaison" program. Lodges in college towns, will schedule meetings at the various Greek fraternities. The Masons go in to the meetings, and distribute literature about Masonry, or play a video with the Ben Franklin impersonator. The Masons will hold a...
I last attended a TX lodge in 1991. I visited Fraternity lodge #1111, in El Paso. I presented my (KY) dues card, and I was given a brief examination. I have visited lodges in 13 states, WashDC, and five foreign countries. The depth and intensity of the investigation on a visiting Freemason...
BUMP- If anyone wants a US Flag flown in Afghanistan:
1- Send me an email or PM with the exact name of the lodge (or individual) for the dedication. Example: "Hiram Lodge #1, Dallas Texas"
2- I need the exact mailing address.
3- The flag is sent on the "honor system". When you get the...
Bravo to your lodge! I have been working in Iraq/Afghanistan for the past 7 (seven) years. I work here by choice, I have not been in uniform for 30 years. There must be a consideration for special circumstances. I reside in Metro WashDC. The drive time and commuting here is the second worst in...
I do a lot of overseas work, and I do not want to risk losing my Grandfather's heirloom ring. I got a terrific ring from Jems, and I am just delighted with it. I recommend them highly!!

As a Master Mason, you are permitted to attend OES meetings as a visitor, in some states. It is part of the wages of a Master Mason, in many states, including Kentucky. The visitation privilege varies in some other states.
The GL of KY lowered the age to 18, several years back. It has had no discernable impact on the quality or quality of new applicants. I am personally 100% in favor of it.
I am third generation. My Paternal Grampaw was born in 1900, and made a Mason in 1921 at Corinth lodge, Corinth KY. My maternal grampaw was made a mason in Chicago, 1920s. His brother, my great-uncle, was a 33rd, and very active in the Shrine. My father was made a Mason in February 1982, just...
Interesting story. I was in a lodge meeting, in Moscow, Russia. My wife was at her mother's apartment, in Moscow. During the lodge meeting, my cell phone rang, it was my wife, and she was just certain that I was going to be kidnapped. I had to leave the lodge meeting early, to go home, before...
I have a 14th degree Scottish Rite ring. I wear a stainless-steel ring, here in Afghanistan. I do not want to risk losing an expensive ring. Check out www.jemsbyjem.com
Virginia craft lodges permit you to bring your phone with you. But, if it rings during lodge, you are charged $20 (police, firemen, rescue squad, etc. are exempted). Personally, I prefer to leave my cell phone off, after work, since I am on the phone during work all day.
There are Women Freemasons. There have been such organizations for many years. See www.co-masonry.org There is a lodge in Maryland, I have met one of their members.
Check out this article. It is from Los Angeles, and it's a couple of years old, I like it,anyway.

The reasons for the decline in numbers are varied. Most Masons do not realize, that we are losing more members to resignations/demits/suspensions, than we are to deaths. Men come into...
Yours is one of the best of the forums. It takes courage, to face controversial issues, and difficult topics. There are problems in Masonry, and far too many Masons are content to take a "hands off" approach. I congratulate your courage, and fortitude. I did not expect any less. After all, you...
@davidterrell80 Welcome aboard. I reside in the NorthVA area. I would be delighted to meet you, and visit a lodge of your choice. I highly recommend Fredericksburg#4. It is the lodge where Geo.Washington was made a Mason, and the lodge is just dripping with history. They serve excellent meals...
